About the Role

We are hiring a Backend Engineer for the Vision team, responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure behind our Vision APIs and the Akshar Platform. You will own key parts of the backend stack — from high-throughput API services to observability infrastructure and system security. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on making systems faster, more reliable, and easier to operate.

What You'll Do

• Build and scale Vision APIs for high throughput, low latency, and fault tolerance, supporting public-facing and enterprise workloads.

• Design, develop, and optimise Python-based API services using FastAPI to serve vision capabilities at scale.

• Build and maintain an observability stack — monitoring, alerting, and debugging — across APIs, deployments, and infrastructure.

• Improve backend security and reliability, including authentication, rate limiting, and secure coding practices.

• Configure and manage infrastructure for the Akshar Platform, including the orchestration engine and proofreading UI services.

• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and AI-assisted code review processes.

• Build robust, real-time communication layers using HTTP and WebSocket protocols.

• Ensure systems are observable, reliable, and maintainable across cloud environments.

What We're Looking For

• Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience building APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.

• Solid understanding of HTTP and WebSocket protocols.

• Proven experience building and debugging backend systems with a focus on low latency and high availability.

• Experience setting up or working with CI/CD pipelines for production deployments.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB (or similar data stores).

• Experience with task queues and asynchronous processing using Celery, Taskiq, or equivalent.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration in production environments.

• Hands-on experience with Azure (preferred) or another major cloud platform (AWS, GCP).

• Strong focus on secure coding practices, code quality, and system reliability.

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.

• Beginner-to-intermediate understanding of ML concepts and model serving infrastructure.

• Prior exposure to vision-based AI systems or document processing pipelines.

• Contributions to open-source backend projects or a solid GitHub portfolio.
