About 10x Genomics
At 10x Genomics, accelerating our understanding of biology is more than a mission for us. It is a commitment. This is the century of biology, and the breakthroughs we make now have the potential to change the world.
We enable scientists to advance their research, allowing them to address scientific questions they did not even know they could ask. Our tools have enabled fundamental discoveries across biology including cancer, immunology, and neuroscience.
10x Genomics is seeking a strategic, influential, and deeply connected leader to own market development across biopharma, from AI and foundation model builders to translational research. This leader sets one integrated strategy for how 10x single cell and spatial platforms win in pharma discovery and translation.
The ideal candidate brings a trusted network of senior biopharma leaders, along with leaders in academic medical centers and top institutions, and knows how to mobilize it to open accounts, build partnerships, and accelerate adoption. They have built markets before, can lead leaders, and can move comfortably between science, commercial strategy, and executive conversations.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a builder who thrives at the intersection of science, commercial strategy, and customer influence. In addition, this leader will manage the internal translational services business, which is designed to engage in high-value partnerships with top AMCs and biopharma clients.
Develop and own the integrated market development strategy for biopharma across two priorities: AI and foundation models (including large-scale perturbation screens) and translational research, aligned with company growth priorities in single cell, spatial, and next-generation platforms.
Leverage an existing strong network of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), early adopters, translational investigators, and senior biopharma decision-makers to accelerate market traction.
Build and manage formal KOL programs, advisory boards, and strategic partnerships across AMCs, biopharma R&D, CROs, and translational consortia.
Champion cross-pollination between academia and industry to drive adoption of 10x technologies across the discovery-to-translation continuum.
Set priorities, resourcing, and goals across both teams, and make sure the two markets reinforce each other in pharma accounts.
Identify high-value use cases, white-space opportunities, and barriers to adoption across discovery and translational workflows.
Partner with Product Management, Segment Marketing, and Commercial leadership to turn market insight into actionable strategic roadmaps.
Build competitive positioning and thought-leadership frameworks that establish 10x as the standard for AI-enabled discovery, translational discovery, and clinical trial enablement.
Lead, coach, and develop the two Associate Directors who own market development for AI and foundation models and for translational research.
Set the operating rhythm, metrics, and accountability for each team, and hire additional talent as the markets grow.
Resolve overlap and handoffs between the two teams so customers experience one 10x biopharma approach.
Work with the commercial team to identify flagship accounts, build pipeline, and remove obstacles to product utilization.
Work with Product, R&D, and Corporate Development to influence platform evolution, co-development, and partnerships that serve biopharma customers.
Partner with Marketing Communications to translate customer wins into narrative and sales enablement for biopharma audiences.
Build an insights engine that tracks adoption trends, competitive intelligence, regulatory shifts, and technology evolution across AI-enabled discovery and translational research.
Deliver regular briefings to executive leadership on market signals and strategic opportunities.
Work with Product Management to track and report impact metrics tied to adoption, ecosystem influence, pipeline creation, and revenue growth.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in molecular biology, immunology, oncology, genomics, computational biology, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in biopharma, life science tools, translational research, or clinical research markets, including senior market development, business development, or commercial leadership.
A strong, pre-existing network of VP-level and senior leaders in biopharma, and of translational KOLs in academia, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Experience leading and developing leaders and teams, and setting strategy across more than one market or segment.
Demonstrated experience in market development, segment leadership, or commercial strategy in high-innovation life sciences or biotech companies, including influence on enterprise or multi-stakeholder deals.
Proven ability to build and execute strategic plans that drive product adoption and commercial growth.
Excellent storytelling, executive communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Familiarity with AI and data-driven drug discovery, including how large-scale single cell and perturbation data supports model development.
Prior experience in translational biomarker programs.
Experience working with CROs, clinical trial teams, and translational consortia.
Ability to navigate both scientific and business conversations with equal fluency.
