Aspen Standard Wealth is scaling rapidly through acquisition, and we’re hiring a Technology Operations Director to lead the operational backbone of our technology organization. This role goes well beyond traditional project management — you'll run the tech team's operating rhythm, manage IT finance and vendor relationships, drive cybersecurity and compliance readiness, and ensure every partner firm has a best-in-class technology experience. If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution, this is your seat.
We're building the technology platform that powers a growing portfolio of RIA firms. Each acquisition brings new systems, teams, and expectations. This role ensures the tech organization runs with discipline and clarity — so we can scale without losing speed, quality, or trust.
This role is based in Chicago, with up to 20% travel.
Below are the core areas of work for this role. Over time, responsibilities may evolve, but this should provide a clear view of what to expect.
Help shape the technology departmental strategy and identify and drive priority strategic initiatives.
Run the technology team's operating cadence — meetings, reporting, planning cycles, and quarterly Rocks.
Lead project management and oversight of quarterly Rocks and IT strategic initiatives.
Own Technology's Key Reporting & Stakeholder Management Activities.
Manage IT finance including budgeting, forecasting, and partner firm IT cost allocations.
Oversee the MSP relationship — performance, escalations, and continuous improvement.
Support management and operations of the cybersecurity program.
Lead new partner firm onboarding to MSP, compliance technology, and core IT services.
Own the RIA technology experience and Net Promoter Score — track, measure, and improve how partner firms experience our tech.
Coordinate across product, engineering, and vendor partners to keep initiatives aligned and moving.
Own work management and project delivery tooling — evaluate, implement, and optimize the tools the team runs on.
Manage inventory of PC hardware and peripherals.
10–15 years in technology operations, IT strategy, or program management roles.
Experience managing IT budgets, cost allocations, or vendor financials.
Track record of managing MSP or vendor relationships.
Familiarity with cybersecurity programs, compliance tech, or IT governance.
Strong project management skills — comfortable owning Rocks, milestones, and cross-functional delivery.
Experience in RIAs, roll ups or aggregators, wealth management, or multi-site environments.
Managing Complexity: Navigates competing priorities and interdependencies without oversimplifying.
Collaboration: Works productively across functions, levels, and perspectives to achieve outcomes that cannot be accomplished alone.
