Director of Product Marketing

About the Role

At Avoma, Product Marketing isn't about decks and datasheets – it's about owning the story that makes the market choose us, and the system that makes that story scale.

As the Director of Product Marketing, you will own messaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategy end-to-end – turning what our products do into why they matter to buyers, users, and executives. You'll operate as a strategic leader, systems builder, and AI-enabled operator who drives adoption, accelerates pipeline, and equips the revenue org to win. You'll also build and lead the Product Marketing function as Avoma scales.

This is a high-impact role for someone who combines deep care for craft with a bias for action – someone who sweats the details, takes pride in their work, and consistently goes the extra step to ship narratives, launches, and enablement that move the business.

What You'll Own (Outcomes & Impact)

1. Positioning & Messaging That Wins

  • Own product messaging and positioning that clearly differentiates Avoma in a crowded market

  • Craft compelling narratives that resonate with buyers, users, and executive stakeholders

  • Build a messaging system – frameworks, value props, and proof points – that the whole company can use consistently

2. Go-to-Market Strategy & Launches

  • Develop and execute comprehensive GTM strategies that align with business goals and drive adoption

  • Own the strategy and execution of product launches and updates – from narrative to enablement to measurement

  • Define launch success metrics and tie marketing motion directly to pipeline and revenue impact

3. Power the Revenue Engine

  • Partner with Sales to build enablement tools, training, and resources that improve selling effectiveness and win rates

  • Equip the GTM org with the messaging, battle cards, and assets they need to close

  • Translate product capabilities into business value and ROI that buyers immediately understand

4. Competitive & Market Intelligence

  • Lead market research and competitive analysis to inform GTM strategy and product direction

  • Maintain a living view of the competitive landscape and arm the team to win against it

  • Identify market shifts and opportunities before they become obvious

5. Be the Voice of the Customer & Market

  • Translate customer conversations, usage patterns, and feedback into actionable product and GTM insights

  • Advocate for customer and buyer needs within the product development process

  • Influence product roadmap, GTM, and positioning using structured, data-backed input

6. Build the Product Marketing Function at Avoma

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing product marketing team

  • Create and refine playbooks, frameworks, and processes for a growing function

  • Operate effectively in ambiguity and help define what "great" looks like for PMM at Avoma

How You Work (Mindset & Craft)

  • You bring a high-effort, high-standards approach to everything you do – not by working more hours, but by working with intention, precision, and care

  • You have strong attention to detail – you don't miss signals in the market, customer data, or execution

  • You take pride in your craft – whether it's a launch narrative, a sales deck, or a positioning doc, you aim to make it exceptional, not just sufficient

  • You combine speed with quality – moving fast, but never sloppy

  • You act like an owner – deeply accountable for outcomes, not just deliverables

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Clear, differentiated positioning that the market and the internal team both rally around

  • Launches that consistently land and measurably move pipeline

  • Strong sales adoption of messaging and enablement, reflected in higher win rates

  • Faster time-to-value and adoption driven by sharper messaging and GTM

  • Real influence on product roadmap and GTM strategy

  • A scalable PMM function and team that grows with the business

What You Bring

Core Experience

  • 8+ years in product marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful GTM strategies for B2B SaaS products

  • Experience marketing to mid-market and/or enterprise buyers

AI-Native & Data-Driven Mindset

  • Comfortable using AI tools, automation, and data to improve efficiency and outcomes

  • Strong grasp of market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights

  • Ability to turn data into insights, narrative, and action

Builder Mentality

  • Thrive in ambiguity and can create structure from scratch

  • Experience designing playbooks, frameworks, and scalable programs

  • Bias for action – comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done

Executive Presence & Communication

  • Strong ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams

  • Skilled at translating complex product capabilities into business value and ROI

  • Excellent, structured communicator (written and verbal)

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience scaling product marketing in a high-growth, early-stage company

  • Deep understanding of AI-driven workflows, conversational intelligence, or revenue intelligence tools

  • Track record of launches that meaningfully moved pipeline and revenue

  • A creative, data-driven approach to positioning and storytelling

  • Experience building and leading a PMM team from the early stages

Compensation & Benefits

  • 💰 Compensation: $140K–$170K base, based on years of experience + 15% variable (OTE: $165K–$200K)

    • Variable tied to GTM and pipeline outcomes — launches, sales enablement adoption, and revenue influence

  • 📈 Equity: Meaningful early-stage equity grant

  • 🏥 Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and generous PTO

  • ⚙️ Tools: Best-in-class AI, GTM, and analytics stack to amplify your impact

  • 📍 Location: This is an in-office role based in San Jose, CA (4 days/week)

Culture note: We value craft, ownership, and high-quality execution – this is a high-performance team that cares deeply about outcomes, not activity.
