Lead Technical Recruiter

Job type: Full Time · Department: People · Work type: Remote

United States

At Carrum Health, we live and breathe the mission of transforming specialty care to create an unparalleled patient experience. If you are passionate about changing healthcare while thriving in a high-growth, cutting-edge environment with a supportive, people-first culture, we would love to connect with you.

In 2014, Carrum disrupted the healthcare Centers of Excellence space, first focusing on surgical care, then expanding to cancer care and substance use treatment. Our proven value-based model saves employers up to 45% per episode and reduces unnecessary care and complications. The icing on the cake? Our members pay little to nothing for care, a life-changing benefit when affordability concerns are at an all-time high.  Our team’s execution has been recognized by the venture community, and we’ve raised over $100M in aggregate from top-tier investors like OMERS, Tiger Global Management, and Wildcat Ventures. Our impact has been externally validated in a RAND Corporation study and featured as a Harvard Business School (HBS) case study.

We are seeking a high-trajectory Lead Technical Recruiter to join as our founding technical recruiting pillar. This is a unique Player-Coach opportunity designed for a results-driven technical recruiter who wants to remain hands-on closing complex roles today, while explicitly scaling into talent leadership tomorrow.

As our founding Technical Recruiter, you will step into an environment with a strong foundation but immense room to build, optimize, and scale. Initially, you will hit the ground running to own open tech reqs, while you audit our current infrastructure, minimize the reliance on our RPO partner, and build the definitive playbook for Carrum's technical hiring engine. As you stabilize the pipeline, you will have the opportunity to step into a leadership seat— ideal for someone who is ready to transition from rigorous individual execution to shaping the future of a scaling talent function.

The salary range for this role is $170,000-$210,000 depending on geography and level of experience, plus competitive equity and a 15% annual bonus.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will own..

  • The Founding Technical Recruiting Blueprint: As the foundational lead for this pillar, you will design and execute the end-to-end technical hiring strategy. You aren't just following a process; you are building the playbook for how Carrum identifies, vets, and closes high-quality technical talent.

  • The Player-Coach Transition: You will start by rolling up your sleeves to personally drive full-cycle execution for our most complex tech roles. Over the next 6–12 months, you have the opportunity to strategically transition into a leadership role, taking over management, performance tracking, and mentorship for our existing recruiting and ops team.

  • High-Velocity Full-Cycle Execution: You will treat the candidate journey like a production pipeline—fast, reliable, and automated where possible. You’ll maintain a high volume of active candidates while ensuring an elite candidate experience where no one sits in a stage for more than 48 hours.

  • Creative & Inclusive Sourcing: You will utilize advanced sourcing techniques to attract and engage high-quality, diverse technical talent. You’re not just waiting for applicants; you act as a strategic "scout" by mapping AI hubs and donor companies to proactively hunt high-conviction, diverse pipelines of technical talent.

  • Data-Driven Funnel Optimization: You’ll provide weekly "Funnel Health" reports directly to leadership. You will build rigorous tracking systems that eliminate the "black hole" of recruiting, identifying bottlenecks in conversion and pivoting our technical sourcing strategy in real-time.

  • Strategic Talent Advisor: You will partner directly with technical leadership to proactively evaluate their current team structures and project where they need to grow as we scale. Moving beyond a "ticket-taker" recruiter, you will use market data and consultative insights to help leadership architect their future technical organizations.

  • Strategic Mission Narrative: You will develop a profound understanding of Carrum’s value-based care model and business goals to effectively pitch our vision and sell high-quality  technical talent on our long-term impact.

We’re excited about you because you…

  • Are a Veteran Technical Builder: You bring 6+ years of experience doing technical recruiting, preferably with 3+ years in a high-growth startup environment where you had to build processes from scratch.

  • Have Leadership Ambitions & High EQ: You are looking for the next step in your career. You have a passion for mentorship, team performance management, and organizational design, and you are ready to earn a Head of TA title through proven execution.

  • Are Obsessed with Funnel Optimization: You live and breathe Interview-to-Offer ratios and Candidate NPS. You believe that a technical recruiting pipeline should operate like a well-oiled CI/CD process: fast, automated where possible, and thorough enough to catch every "bug" before the offer stage.

  • Speak the Language: You understand the nuances between a Data Engineer and a Data Scientist and can spot the difference between a "check-the-box" coder and a true product innovator.

  • Are a Natural Storyteller: You can articulate our value-based care mission to a Senior AI Engineer with infectious enthusiasm, selling candidates on our long-term societal impact.

  • Are an AI-Optimized Architect: You aren't just a user of recruiting tools; you are an architect of the talent stack. You leverage AI-driven sourcing and automated workflows to eliminate the mundane, ensuring our hiring engine runs lean while you focus on high-value human conversion.

Why you’ll love working with us...

  • We’re a hard-working, humble, and compassionate group motivated to solve the hard problems in healthcare today. You’ll work with talented, experienced co-workers from companies like Booz & Company, Teladoc, Hinge Health, Accolade, Angi, and Optum.

  • We work with some of the most recognized and esteemed health systems in the country. Top hospitals like Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, Stanford Health Care, Scripps Health, and Rush Health have joined our platform. Employers who use our benefit include US Foods, United Airlines, and large public sector organizations like the self-insured schools of California, State of Tennessee, and the State of Maine.

  • We champion a collaborative environment where team members can be autonomous, receive support and healthy feedback, and bring their authentic selves to work.

We offer holistic employee support with flexible working hours, generous time off, paid parental leave,  opportunities to connect virtually and in-person, and more.

  • We embrace our team’s diversity of thought, experience, and interests and know that doing so makes us stronger as a company. Carrum has an active employee-led Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) committee alongside several employee resource groups (ERGs) that support parents, women, and various underrepresented groups.

  • You’ll feel proud that the work you do each day directly impacts people’s lives in big and meaningful ways.
