Our Story

Covalus, Inc. is a professional services firm that performs medical equipment planning, transition planning, technology planning, strategic advisory services, program management, and FF&E procurement for clients in academic, private, and government sectors across the U.S. Formed in 1998, the company was originally a consulting division for Centex Rogers Construction Company and provided medical equipment planning services to design firms and healthcare owners. In 2007, Centex was purchased by Balfour Beatty, and the division was rebranded as Balfour Resource Group. In 2016, three former Balfour Beatty executives, Edward Hernandez, Walt Massey, and Mark Chenoweth, acquired the business unit from Balfour Beatty Construction, and took the company private.

Headquartered in Dallas, with offices in Nashville, Houston, and staff located throughout the U.S., Covalus has performed projects for clients like Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. We’ve completed more than 600 projects in 45 states, as well as Canada, Japan, Qatar, Korea, and the UAE, with more than $6 billion in equipment procured.
