The Senior Medical Equipment Implementation Manager provides leadership and oversight for multiple complex healthcare equipment implementation projects across hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and healthcare systems. This senior-level role is responsible for directing all phases of medical equipment implementation, including strategic planning, procurement coordination, delivery and installation logistics, installation management, and support to activation and project closeout.
The Senior Implementation Manager serves as a trusted advisor and facilitator to healthcare clients and executive stakeholders leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution, operational readiness and seamless integration of medical equipment into clinical environments. This role also provides mentorship to junior implementation staff and supports organizational process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Leadership
Lead multiple large-scale, high-profile, and complex healthcare equipment implementation scope from planning through building activation and occupancy.
Develop implementation strategies, execution plans, and logistics that align with client’s project goals.
Manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, schedules, and cross-functional teams.
Serve as point of contact for medical equipment logistics for all project stakeholders.
Provide leadership with recommendations and problem-solving strategies with key stakeholders to reach consensus and issue resolution.
Medical Equipment Implementation Oversight
Direct procurement coordination, equipment logistics, installation sequencing, commissioning, and activation activities.
Perform architectural and mechanical/electrical/plumbing utilities reviews to ensure proper infrastructure is in place to support medical equipment. Coordinate any issues to resolution with the design team.
Oversee equipment deliveries and installations including coordination with construction readiness, IT systems, and owner clinical engineering.
Review and validate equipment specifications, room readiness requirements, utility coordination, and installation standards.
Prepare and update project leadership on status of equipment delivery and installation.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and guide Implementation Managers, Coordinators, and project support staff.
Establish implementation standards, workflows, and best practices across projects.
Sets a good example for the internal project team with a proactive, problem-solving mentality.
Facilitate collaboration between clinical teams, contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and operational leadership.
Support staff development, performance improvement, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Vendor & Client Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and consulting partners.
Negotiate implementation schedules, delivery timelines, and issue resolution with vendors and contractors.
Lead stakeholder meetings, executive presentations, and client reporting activities.
Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication and successful project delivery.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
Support compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, infection control protocols, and safety standards.
Support vendor and owner quality processes related to equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance.
Support adherence to Joint Commission, NFPA, OSHA, FGI, and healthcare construction guidelines.
Lead implementation audits, lessons learned reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial & Operational Management
Oversee project’s Implementation scope by monitoring hours and instigating process of change orders and resource management.
Identify opportunities for project add-services, operational efficiencies, cost savings, and workflow improvements.
Assist with business development efforts, proposal reviews, and client presentations as needed.
Activation Support and Project Close Out
Support building activation through medical equipment status updates
Support project close out as needed
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or related field required.
Experience
8–12+ years of experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare project management, healthcare construction, or equipment implementation.
Experience working and interacting in construction environment.
Experience communication with diverse groups from C suite, clinical users, project leadership and construction resources.
Managing projects in different areas requiring travel for site visits that include multiple days and air travel
Proven experience leading large-scale healthcare facility projects including acute care hospitals, imaging departments, surgical suites, laboratories, and specialty healthcare environments.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of medical equipment systems, healthcare operations, and facility infrastructure requirements.
Adept at reading architectural and MEP construction drawings and can interpret vendor site-specific drawings.
Strong understanding of healthcare construction coordination and activation planning.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, scheduling and equipment database systems.
Experience with BIM/Revit coordination, AutoCAD, and healthcare planning tools preferred.
Strong analytical, budgeting, problem solving, and reporting capabilities.
