About the Role
As a Associate Director, Technical Accounting on our Global Finance Team, you will own the full end to end accounting and reporting of our insurance businesses. You will support the Global Controller with insurance accounting, underwriter reporting and close processes of our insurance businesses. This role will lead the insurance financial statement reporting in accordance with the relevant GAAP/IFRS rules.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly and quarterly insurance accounting close, working closely with actuaries, the insurance team, the claims team, and the internal global accounting operations team, as well as relevant third-party accounting teams.
Extract and analyze relevant data from internal systems and propose accounting entries. You will also review the work of other supporting members of the Insurance accounting team.
Be responsible for the entire month-end close process for the insurance, reinsurance, and coinsurance businesses, as well as the standalone financial statements.
Support consolidated financial statements for insurance-specific disclosures.
Be responsible for analyzing and reporting the profitability of the insurance business by partner, domain, and geography.
Proactively address and resolve operational accounting issues, such as ensuring the timely processing of AP payments and correctly identifying GL account strings for all financial activities.
Drive process and system improvements related to the insurance accounting close.
Partner with insurance teams, including insurance operations, actuarial, and claims teams, to implement accounting process changes.
Be a technical accounting expert for the insurance business and prepare technical accounting memos related to insurance-specific programs.
Lead quarterly reviews, annual audits, and any regulatory audits related to the insurance business. You will also draft all related audit work papers and manage all audit requests.
What you will have:
A minimum of 10 years of insurance accounting experience.
Insurance industry experience is required.
Big 4 (or national audit firm) experience is preferred.
Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS, especially pertaining to insurance accounting.
Experience auditing, implementing, or operating in a SOX 404 environment.
CPA, ACCA, AIAF, or an equivalent certification.
Experience with managing month-end close activities.
