The Role

A QA Engineer in the Technology Department at Cover Genius is the foremost advocate of a quality culture and the primary catalyst for AI-augmented testing practices.

Their primary responsibility is to promote an environment where employees follow quality guidelines, consistently see others taking quality-focused actions, hear others talking about quality, and feel quality all around them.

You will proactively evaluate, pilot and standardise AI tools, assistants, agent frameworks and code-generation tools—that improve test depth, speed and reliability.

As a QA Engineer at Cover Genius, you will develop test frameworks, working closely with engineers to help implement best testing practices and ensure our QA processes are robust and scalable.

We are particularly seeking candidates with strong experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) (e.g., Okta or similar) and those who have tested in both B2B and B2C environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reliable UI test automation using Playwright (JavaScript) or a comparable tool if Playwright experience is limited but willingness to learn is present.

  • Design, execute, and automate REST API tests using Postman (collections, environment variables, pre-/post-request scripts), ensuring coverage of all critical endpoints.

  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs.

  • Champion the adoption of AI-augmented QA engineering: leveraging generative-AI tools to accelerate requirements analysis, test design, automation code authoring, and AI-assisted code reviews; curating and maintaining a prompt-engineering playbook; automating synthetic test-data generation; scouting and benchmarking emerging AI QA tooling; and collaborating with product and engineering teams to author and refine requirements using generative-AI assistants, ensuring clarity, consistency, and testability.

  • Apply expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems (e.g., Okta or comparable platforms) when validating authentication, authorization, and access workflows.

  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across both B2B and B2C use cases, tailoring test strategies to account for the unique workflows of each.

  • Understand and reinforce the business value of the requirements of the company and project core goals of the products and services we offer.

  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.

  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.

  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet the company's objectives.

  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.

  • Monitor debugging process results.

  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions.

What you will bring

  • 4+ years of QA/Test Engineering experience with strong hands-on background in UI automation (any framework, Playwright preferred).

  • Proficiency in JavaScript for test automation; other coding experience acceptable if ability to learn quickly is demonstrated.

  • Proven experience in REST API testing (e.g. Postman) with solid understanding of HTTP and client-server architecture.

  • Hands-on use of generative-AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, etc.) for requirements analysis, test design, and automation code.

  • Strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills with ability to integrate new AI or testing tools into frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Proven experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms (e.g., Okta or similar).

  • Demonstrated testing experience across both B2B and B2C products and services.

What you will have

  • Passionate about Quality Assurance and continuous improvement, with a focus on critical areas like IAM and cross-domain testing in B2B and B2C contexts.

  • Enthusiastic about experimenting with and leveraging AI technologies to boost productivity.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle high-pressure situations.

  • Organised, efficient, and adaptable to both independent and collaborative work.

  • Strong team player with proven experience collaborating across Scrum/Kanban teams.
