The Role
As a Software Engineer III on our Distribution Team, you will own the stability, maintenance, and modernization of our business-critical, partner-facing applications. Your primary objective is to ensure our existing distribution channels are robust and reliable, which in turn enables the team to focus its efforts on delivering new, strategic projects and quarterly OKRs.
To drive success in this role, you will have a deep expertise in modern JavaScript and multiple frontend frameworks, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and autonomy. As the Software Engineer III, you will be the technical lead for our XCover Elements product (Preact, Astro) and other essential web tools (Vue.js, React.js). Regular collaboration with Backend Engineering, Product, and Design teams will be key in ensuring our partner integration experience remains best-in-class.
This role will be based in our Sydney office and will be a hybrid working role. What does hybrid mean here at CG? Monday, Tuesday and Friday collaboration in office, while you can enjoy plenty of flexibility with the added benefit of one wellness day a month available.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the end-to-end stability and technical health of our core frontend products, built with technologies like Preact, Astro, and Web Components.
Lead the technical diagnosis and resolution of complex issues across our diverse frontend landscape, from partner-facing products to internal tools built with Vue.js and React.js.
Design and implement secure, robust client-side API integrations, employing best practices for data handling (JSON), security, and caching strategies.
Drive the modernization of our frontend applications by strategically managing technical debt, leading library upgrades, and refactoring critical code for improved testability and performance.
Collaborate across teams to support and maintain our internal toolset, ensuring seamless integration and functionality for stakeholders.
Mentor other engineers through thoughtful code reviews and knowledge sharing, actively elevating the team's frontend capabilities and best practices.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience (e.g. 3-5+ years) in a software engineering role with a strong focus on building and maintaining customer-facing frontend applications.
Deep proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), Web Components, and demonstrable expertise in multiple frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Preact, Astro).
Strong experience with client-side API integration (REST, JSON), version control with Git, and implementing effective caching strategies.
Familiarity with modern frontend tooling, including CSS modules, build tools (Vite, Webpack), and testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright).
Experience with test automation, CI/CD pipeline configuration, and containerization with Docker is highly desirable.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, A postgraduate degree and/or record of academic achievement is also desirable
