About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant / Reconciliation and Settlement Analyst to join our global financial operations in respect to our underwriter reporting and settlements. This role is a key position in the team and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reconciliation, settlement processing, underwriter reporting, and exception handling.
The ideal candidate understands insurance premium flows, commission netting mechanics, chargeback and refund offset logic, settlement timing, ledger management, and cash conversion impacts. This role sits in Financial Operations and owns day-to-day financial operations for a portfolio of underwriters across jurisdictions globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriter settlement cycle execution (daily/weekly/monthly)
Prepare carrier bordereau and settlement statements (premium payable, claims offsets, carrier-funded expenses, true-ups) and validate completeness.
Own the reconciliations of carrier settlement files to internal sub-ledger sources (BigQuery / data warehouse outputs), NetSuite postings, and bank/payment activity.
Ensure consistent cutoffs and settlement calendars are followed per carrier contract terms
Controls, audit trail, and SOPs
Execute defined controls for settlement accuracy (checklists, reconciliations, tie-outs) and retain evidence.
Ownership of underwriter accruals on balance sheet and reconciliation against actual payments.
Maintain and improve SOPs so recurring issues become systemised fixes.
Ownership of relationships with underwriters from an accounting standpoint.
Continuous improvement (reduce manual work)
Identify repeat break patterns and propose automation or process fixes.
Contribute requirements and test cases for Data Ops / Product improvements (e.g., unique identifiers, PSP reporting, settlement file standardization).
To help us level up, you'll ideally have:
7+ years in financial operations and financial reporting in global companies.
Deep understanding of global accounting complexities- FX, consolidations, intercompany.
Demonstrated experience reconciling multi-source transactional data (bank statements, processor reports, internal sub-ledger, ERP).
Strong data literacy: comfort working with large datasets; ability to spot patterns and isolate root causes.
Advanced spreadsheet skills (pivots, lookups, structured reconciliation templates).
Comfortable writing crisp communication and working directly with external counterparties.
High standards for controls, accuracy, and audit trail discipline.
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
US GAAP experience preferred but not essential
Experience with chargebacks/refunds, payout cycles, multi-currency settlement, or principal/agent netting preferred but not essential
