About the role

The Finance Systems & Automation Lead owns the strategy, implementation, and operating model for the systems that power Finance at Cover Genius. The mission of this role is to modernise and automate core finance processes, ensure reliable integrations and data flows across systems of record, and build audit-ready governance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Finance systems strategy, architecture, and roadmap. Own the end-to-end finance systems roadmap across NetSuite, close management (FloQast), P2P/spend tooling, treasury, and reporting. Set priorities, sequencing, and delivery plans in partnership with Finance leadership and Data/Engineering. Define target-state architecture for how finance data moves, reconciles, and is consumed.

• Implementations, upgrades, and automation delivery. Lead major initiatives (new modules, tool changes, migrations, integrations) including requirements, testing, cutover, and post-go-live stabilization. Identify and aggressively pursue automation opportunities across close, reconciliations, exception handling, and clearing processes with a measurable bias toward eliminating manual work and reducing cycle times. Ensure automation balances speed, usability, and control.

• Controls-by-design and systems governance. Establish strong governance across finance systems: change management, access reviews, segregation of duties, audit support, and documentation. Partner with Financial Reporting on SOX-lite requirements and evidence trails embedded in workflows.

• Integrations and data-to-ERP integrity. Own integration requirements between finance systems and upstream/downstream platforms (e.g., BigQuery/data warehouse, banking platforms, operational systems). Partner with Data Ops/IT/Engineering to ensure reliability, observability, and reconciliation control points between BigQuery and NetSuite. Reduce and prevent material variances between BigQuery-derived reporting and NetSuite reporting for agreed KPIs.

• Cross-functional business partnership. Serve as the systems and process bridge across Financial Operations, Financial Reporting, Strategic Finance, Data Ops, Engineering, and Treasury.

To help us level up, you'll ideally have:

• 8+ years of experience in finance systems, finance transformation, or automation roles in complex or scaling environments.

• Direct experience in fintech, insurtech, or other regulated financial services environments.

• Strong understanding of finance and accounting processes (month-end close, revenue, AP/AR, reconciliations, intercompany, FX).

• Demonstrated success delivering cross-functional systems initiatives (implementations, integrations, process redesign).

• Track record of identifying, prioritizing, and delivering automation that materially reduces manual effort, operational risk, and cycle times across finance workflows.

• Comfortable operating hands-on while also setting strategy and governance.

• NetSuite experience (administration/configuration required; SuiteScript and scripting/integration capability is preferred).

• Experience supporting IPO readiness or public-company reporting requirements (SOX, audit trail design, controls documentation) is a strong plus.
