About the role

As a Financial Analyst/Accountant at Cover Genius, you will be working amongst a rapidly expanding Global Financial Operations team, reporting to the Associate Director, Underwriter Finance. This role requires a knowledgeable and resourceful team player who will own the reconciliation and smooth settlement of Underwriter payables while working cross-functionally across the organisation. 

This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle of Underwriter outgoings while ensuring data integrity, fostering strong external and internal relationships, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a driven and reliable person with a strong background in data reconciliation and payables, exceptional communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and wants to be part of a global insurtech company with the vision to protect all customers of the world’s largest digital companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service & Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for external and internal stakeholders regarding payment inquiries, discrepancies, and resolutions. Foster positive working relationships with all stakeholders. 

  • Invoice Finalisation & Payments: Reconcile data with invoices received, finalise invoices and ensure timely approval processes are adhered to in accordance with company policies and payment terms. Ensure accurate and timely payments.

  • Data Integrity & Compliance: Maintain accurate records, verify approvals, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. 

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency within the Underwriter Finance function, including automation and streamlining workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.

  • Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile Underwriter transactions, and resolve any discrepancies relating to Underwriter reporting. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities as well as audit support.

  • Underwriter Vendor Management: Monitor Underwriter vendor accounts, resolve outstanding balances, and maintain an up-to-date vendor database. Review onboarding new Underwriters and ensuring compliance with company policies.

To help us level up, you'll ideally have:

  • A diploma in accounting or finance is highly preferred.

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a senior or lead role.

  • Experience working with NetSuite and Coupa preferred.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Google sheets.

  • Strong knowledge of general accounting practices, and financial controls.

  • Conceptual database understanding highly preferred.

  • Insurance accounting experience preferred but not required.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to manage external and internal relationships effectively.
