Our people are: Accountable, customer-obsessed, collaborative, driven

Our people are not: Passive, defensive, siloed, hesitant

About the Role:

As a Software Engineer 3 on our Logistics Team, you own key technical contributions to Cover Genius's shipping and logistics partners protection offerings - enabling embedded protection for packages, deliveries, and supply chains at scale.

This role is backend-heavy, with working comfort across the stack including occasionally touching infrastructure and data. We're AI-first: LLM development tools are a core part of our workflow, going beyond code generation into spec-driven development and context engineering.

You're joining a small (but mighty!) squad, where versatility and initiative matter more than specialization. Independent work, strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike, and a hand in shaping how the domain builds and delivers all come with the territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build integrations with various data sources to automate claim resolution, contributing to a best-in-class embedded insurance experience.

  • Maintain and improve the Partner-facing APIs, driving it toward broader Partner rollout through delivering new features.

  • Take ownership beyond your core skills, making adjacent changes to supporting systems (e.g. infrastructure) when appropriate.

  • Drive technical decisions in partnership with other delivery teams, balancing velocity with long-term maintainability.

  • Engage directly with stakeholders across Product, Partner teams, and beyond; working together to deliver on shared outcomes.

  • Collaborate closely and consistently with global teams. Our domain works heavily across regions; comfort with async, cross timezone collaboration is essential.

Skills and Experience:

  • 4-6 years of experience in software development, with a track record of leading complex features from design through delivery.

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript with hands-on experience with NestJS and Next.js

  • Familiarity with Python and PHP/Laravel are nice to have.

  • Fluent with AI-assisted development beyond code generation; including spec-driven development and context engineering.

  • Familiarity with agent harnesses and orchestration are nice to have.

  • Solid grasp of core software design principles. Your code is thoughtful, reliable and scalable.

  • Comfort with ambiguity - you've built systems where requirements were discovered along the way.

  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD practices.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Clear specs, thorough coordination, and ability to build strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders are key.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Proficiencies and Attributes:

Drive & Initiative

  • Bias for Action. Handed an ambiguous task, you move on it and return with a solution and its trade-offs, not excuses. Equally, you raise your hand early when you need help rather than letting a problem fester.

  • You love learning on the spot. You don't know everything and you’re excited at the opportunity to figure it out.

Ownership

  • Highly independent. You own your work end-to-end without close oversight, and communicate by default, because in a small team silence is expensive.

  • Reliable. When you commit to something, the team can count on you.

Tooling & Leverage

  • A knack for improving process and tooling. Our team heavily leverages AI for efficiency gains. You actively sharpen and challenge how we work, not just what we ship.

  • Continuous improvement. Working across many codebases, you strive to leave things better than when you found them.

Attitude

  • You care. About the outcome, not just the implementation. You think about the end user, your fellow developers, the solutions team, the partners and so on. You understand the problem beyond the code and let that shape what you build.

  • A genuine sense of humour, especially when things get hard.
