About the Role

As the Director of Global Communications, you will be the primary architect of the Cover Genius narrative. This is a high-stakes leadership role designed for a master storyteller who can build, scale, and protect a world-class brand reputation. You will lead our "Owned, Earned, and Internal" media strategies, ensuring our mission resonates with top-tier global media, our iconic partners (like Booking.com, eBay, and Ryanair), and our most valuable asset: our people.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Agency Orchestration

  • The "Conductor": Serve as the primary point of contact for our global PR agencies. You will define high-level KPIs, manage multi-region budgets, and ensure agencies deliver elite-tier placements that move the needle on business objectives.

  • Global Alignment: Bridge the gap between EMEA, APAC, and the Americas, ensuring a unified brand voice while empowering local teams to pivot their pitches for regional nuances.

2. People Leadership & Influence

  • Team Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing communications team. You are responsible for their professional evolution and ensuring the department operates like a well-oiled machine.

  • Executive Advisor: Act as a strategic counselor to our founders and executive team, coaching them for high-pressure media appearances and shaping their internal leadership voice.

3. Narrative & Media Strategy

  • Elite Media Relations: Maintain a "gold-standard" network of journalists, analysts, and influencers across Fintech, Insurtech, and General Business sectors.

  • Channel Synergy: Oversee our owned channels (Blog, LinkedIn) to ensure a seamless feedback loop where earned media "wins" are amplified into long-tail brand equity.

4. Internal Culture & Executive Visibility

  • "One-Team" Culture: Partner with the People Team to ensure our global wins and mission are communicated effectively to a decentralized workforce, maintaining a sense of community across time zones.

  • Thought Leadership: Develop sophisticated platforms for our founders, including ghostwriting high-stakes op-eds, keynote scripts, and visionary internal memos.

5. Crisis Management & Reputation Defense

  • Command & Control: Serve as the primary communications lead during global incidents. You are the "calm in the storm," drafting high-stakes statements for media and partners under intense deadlines.

  • Infrastructure: Design and maintain the Global Crisis Communications Playbook, ensuring all regions are trained on escalation protocols and pre-approved messaging.

  • Risk Mitigation: Work in lockstep with Legal, Compliance, and Product teams to ensure crisis messaging is bulletproof, mitigates risk, and upholds our brand integrity.

Who You Are

  • The Architect: You have a proven track record of managing both internal talent and external agencies to achieve outsized, global results.

  • The Narrative Visionary: You possess a keen "nose for news" and the rare ability to humanize technical complexity. You can distill intricate infrastructure—such as API-led insurance integrations—into compelling, mission-driven narratives that captivate global media and institutional stakeholders.

  • The Strategic Operator: You aren't interested in "vanity metrics." You want multi-channel campaigns that shift market sentiment and drive partner acquisition.

  • Resilient: You thrive in fast-paced environments and can pivot from a celebratory product launch to a complex crisis response without losing your cool.

Requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years in Communications, PR, or Journalism, with at least 3+ years in a people-management role.

  • Industry Fluency: Deep experience in Insurtech, Fintech, or high-growth B2B SaaS is non-negotiable.

  • Agency Pedigree: You’ve either come from a top-tier PR agency or have a proven track record of managing them from the client side.

  • Global Perspective: You have successfully managed PR and communications across multiple international regions (AMER, EMEA, APAC).

  • Location: Must be based in San Francisco or New York for close collaboration with the Global Leadership team.
