What We Need:
The Assistant News Editor will play a key role in driving Datassential’s nascent News content offering forward by helping to produce and refine unique news and insights that help from Datassential’s product suite, leveraging our existing research as well as proprietary analytics to publish compelling news articles that cut through the noise and add value for a variety of customer types in the food and beverage information ecosystem.
What You Will Do:
Work closely with Datassential’s News Editorial Team to produce clean and succinct news articles that meet the needs of various client personas on a daily basis.
Generate story ideas, draft copy and edit copy produced by others.
Identify and leverage opportunities to mine compelling insights from Datassential’s unique, proprietary research and analytics tools.
Collaborate closely and productively with Datassential’s Publications/Content Team, as well as other internal groups.
Develop subject matter expertise in the food and beverage industry and real-time awareness of industry news topics.
Assist in leveraging automation to streamline editorial workflows.
What You Bring:
Have 1-2 years of news writing or editing experience, preferably in a real-time, business-to-business, and/or industry-focused publishing environment.
Have a demonstrated ability to produce and refine data-driven storytelling.
Show a demonstrated track record of developing subject-matter expertise in new areas rapidly.
Be comfortable collaborating in a cross-functional manner in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Have experience in supporting a growing editorial effort with scalable processes and editorial infrastructure.
Have experience or interest in leveraging automation technologies (NLG, NLP, LLMs, etc) to drive efficiency and create value in editorial processes.
Compensation & Eligibility:
This role is open to candidates currently residing in and authorized to work in Canada. This is a posting for an existing vacancy. Salary base range for this role will be $55,000-$60,000 annually. Actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
