We are seeking a sharp, driven, detail-oriented, and experienced legal professional to join our legal team. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in drafting, negotiating, and managing government contracts, combined with a strong grasp of procurement frameworks across major jurisdictions. Familiarity with contracting practices in space industry is an added advantage.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable prior experience managing government bids and defence procurement engagements, particularly within India, and will be capable of independently leading complex public procurement transactions.
This role will serve as the primary legal partner to the Government Sales function and will play a strategic role in enabling compliant and commercially competitive growth in public-sector markets.
Lead the end-to-end legal lifecycle of government contracting in India including bid strategy review, tender analysis, contract negotiation, execution, and post-award compliance management including development of internal approval frameworks and contract review workflows specific to government engagements.
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with Central and State government entities, PSUs and defence establishments and ensure alignment with internal risk policies and commercial objectives.
Advise and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and procurement frameworks including GeM processes, defence procurement procedures (DPP/DAP), and PSU contracting norms.
Develop and maintain a structured framework that accounts for contractual obligations owed to government and defence customers.
Track key obligations, milestones, audit rights, reporting requirements, and flow-down clauses.
Conduct legal review of, and advise on, RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, EOIs, and other tender documents issued by Indian government agencies.
Support cross-functional teams with compliant and commercially competitive bid strategies, translating complex legal requirements into actional guidance.
Serve as the primary legal POC for the Government Sales team, providing timely and pragmatic advice on structuring, negotiations, and contract risk.
Coordinate with external counsel across jurisdictions to ensure compliant and timely execution of government engagements.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in government contracting, including procurement manuals.
Bachelor's degree in law (LL.B) or equivalent from a reputed institution.
High integrity, professional discretion, and sound judgment in carrying out roles and responsibilities.
7+ years of post-qualification experience with a demonstrable track record in government contracts, public procurement.
Hands-on experience managing bids and tenders in India, including familiarity with standard government contracting templates.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and contractual precision.
Collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments alongside engineering, sales, and policy teams.
Proven ability to work independently as a self-starter who can anticipate legal needs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong strategic and creative thinking with a problem-solving mindset, along with adaptability, leadership skills, team management, attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, ethical judgment.
Prior experience working on government bids and defence procurement across key international markets such as US, UK, EU, Singapore, Australia and Japan.
Familiarity with defence and military contracting requirements.
Exposure to technology, space, geospatial or deep tech sector is an added advantage.
Experience interfacing with or appearing before government procurement authorities.
