Digantara is looking for a talented and experienced Lead Image Processing

Engineer to develop cutting-edge image processing pipelines for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) applications across ground- and space-based hardware systems, integrating astrometry and photometry.

Ideal Candidate:

Someone with demonstrated expertise in leading the design, development, and deployment of end to-end image processing pipelines for camera or telescope operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Advance, optimize, maintain, and scale image processing pipelines (including astrometry, photometry, and AI/ML models) across hardware systems.

  • Ensure competitive performance metrics to achieve state-of-the-art detection capabilities for both onboard space and ground-based systems.

  • Ensure algorithm robustness in compliance with space and defence standards

    through rigorous testing, enhancing reliability for mission-critical applications.

  • Extend image processing algorithms to support additional requirements, including IR systems and control systems for pointing and tracking applications.

  • Implement standardized documentation and development processes across the team, including algorithm design, Git-based version control, and deployment procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with embedded and software teams to deploy flight-ready algorithms for ground and onboard processing systems.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph. D. degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Astronomy, or any relevant field.

  • 8+ years of research or industry experience with strong expertise in image processing algorithms, computer vision, and AI/ML models.

  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, with strong problem-solving skills and a proven ability to deliver pipelines that meet defined requirements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Deep understanding of computer vision, AI/ML models, and attitude determination and control algorithms.

  • Strong understanding of adaptive and optimization methods to enhance accuracy and computational efficiency.

  • Hands-on experience implementing robust and scalable image processing pipelines.

  • Expertise in algorithm performance quantification, and continuous improvement, and Git repository management.
