Digantara is looking for a talented and experienced Image Processing Engineer – Star Tracker for developing cutting edge data processing algorithms by combining star catalogues, attitude determination, and astrometric calibration analysis with robust verification techniques.

Someone with prior expertise to handle and organize large database, query techniques and image processing algorithms for ground-based telescope operations.
Analyze, understand, and enhance existing astrometry pipeline. Contribute to maintenance and debugging failures in the pipeline during data generation.
Improve and optimize algorithms for star matching, identification, and attitude determination.
Improve current modules for star extraction and develop new modules for detection of faint stars using classical image processing.
Develop modules for validation of astrometry and photometry calibrations.
Monitor real-time observations from ground-based telescope systems and troubleshoot backend processing.
Calibrate camera payloads on ground and on-orbit to characterize distortion.
Evaluate and document algorithm performance metrics, maintain detailed reports, and propose improvements for future iterations.
Collaborate closely with embedded engineers to develop and deploy flight-ready algorithms for satellite onboard processing systems.
Bachelor's or master's degree in electronics, computer science, astronomy or any relevant field.
2+ years of research or industry experience with significant aptitude in the astronomical image processing algorithms, and computer vision.
Proficiency in high level programming language like Python and familiar to implement Object Oriented Programming (OOP) Structures.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Hands-on Experience with organizing large database and query techniques.
Familiarity with star trackers and ADCS algorithms.
Understanding of Bayesian methods and probabilistic models for optimal orientation estimation in astronomical images.
Basic understanding on fundamental principles of Computer vision and familiarity with OpenCV.
Proficiency in Astropy, Scikit-learn, Scipy, and other relevant image processing libraries. Expertise in managing git repository is an advantage.
