Staff Frontend Engineer
Job type: Full Time · Department: Engineering · Work type: Hybrid
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
No buyer should need a seller to understand what they’re buying. Yet for every complex product, that’s still how it works: the real answers sit behind a sales call with someone paid to close you. GPTs didn’t fix it; they only help buyers who already know what to ask, and most don’t. Evolo is buyer-side AI: companies put their best guided journey directly in the buyer’s hands, 24/7, at the buyer’s pace, zero pressure to commit. The company shapes the narrative. The buyer commands the journey. And every journey produces the data asset no CRM has ever held: first-party, declared intent, compounding with every interaction.
This isn’t a thesis anymore. We’ve crossed the hardest line in enterprise AI, from pilot to production. Four major financial institutions run Evolo inside their sales workflows today, and all four have expanded and extended their partnerships. Three more are onboarding. We’re backed by Portage and Golden Ventures, and we expect the second half of this year to be our steepest curve yet.
We are shaping a new category: AI for product & offer education to 2x conversion. And it is forming right now, and so is the team that will own it. This is a founding-team seat: the people we hire this year are shaping the growth foundation of Evolo, the product, the culture, the standards everything after gets built on.
Your seat: you’ll own Evolo’s frontend as a design discipline end to end, from a blank Figma file to an interface banks trust in production.
As a Staff Frontend Engineer at Evolo, you will be equal parts engineer, designer, and AI thinker, owning the user experience of an AI-native product from concept through production rather than implementing designs handed to you. You will research user needs, craft interaction patterns, and prototype in code, often using AI to accelerate the loop from idea to shipped interface.
In this role, you will leverage your experience across frontend architecture and UX design to build high-performance, modular applications for the banks Evolo sells to, treating frontend engineering as a design discipline rather than a downstream function. You will set the technical and design standard for every frontend hire who joins after you, at a pace where shipping weekly, not quarterly, is the norm.
· Demonstrated UI/UX design skill, comfortable in Figma or a similar tool producing wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes independently, letting Evolo ship polished interfaces without a dedicated designer
· Daily fluency with AI-native coding and design tools such as Cursor, Copilot, v0, Claude, and Figma AI, turning a concept into a clickable prototype or shipped feature in hours rather than weeks
· Deep React and TypeScript expertise across hooks, context, concurrent features, and the surrounding ecosystem, keeping complex, real-time, AI-powered interfaces maintainable at scale
· Strong command of HTML5, CSS3 or CSS-in-JS, animation, and layout systems, giving Evolo’s product the visual polish enterprise buyers expect
· Systems-level thinking that produces components and patterns other engineers adopt naturally, rather than one-off UI that has to be rebuilt as the product grows
· Understanding of usability heuristics, accessibility standards, and responsive design, so Evolo’s interfaces hold up under the scrutiny of enterprise and regulated buyers
· Comfort with CI/CD, automated testing, and modern build tooling, keeping a fast-moving frontend shippable without breaking what banks already depend on
· Own the end-to-end UI/UX for your areas of Evolo’s product, from user research and prototyping through to shipped, production-grade interfaces
· Design and build AI-native interaction patterns, including streaming responses, progressive disclosure of generated content, and human-in-the-loop review flows, that make Evolo’s AI legible and trustworthy to enterprise users
· Architect and maintain the frontend for a scalable, enterprise-grade product, including component architecture, state management, and independently deployable micro-frontends where they earn their keep
· Build and evolve the design system that becomes the single source of truth for how Evolo’s product looks, behaves, and gets built, for design and engineering alike
· Partner with backend engineers, DevOps, and product to shape the technical roadmap and ship weekly against it, not quarterly
· Profile and optimize performance across bundle size, rendering, and network, keeping Evolo’s interface fast enough to hold up inside a bank’s sales workflow
· Set the frontend standard for every engineer hired after you, through code review, mentorship, and the best practices you establish now
