Senior Product Designer - UI/UX (App & Innovation) (all genders)

Job type: Full Time · Department: Product · Work type: Hybrid

Vienna, Vienna, Austria

We love the magic of memory keeping

At Journi, we’re on a mission to build the world’s most-downloaded printing app.

With over 10 million users worldwide, we help people turn their favorite moments into beautifully designed Photo Books and Prints. Our smart AI makes the process fast, simple, and joyful, so our users can spend less time editing and more time reliving their best stories.

As a Senior Product Designer, you're part of two teams. In our Innovation Squad, you'll partner with Product Management (PM) and Engineering to explore new product concepts and business opportunities. You'll work in a zero-to-one environment where products don't have product-market fit (PMF) yet. Your craft and ability to validate concepts will help us find ideas worth building and accelerate their path to PMF. You'll also join our Experience Design team. There, you'll work with other designers, researchers, and analysts to shape our practice.

If you thrive in ambiguity and get excited about discovering what will truly resonate with users, we'd love to hear more! Please include your CV, portfolio, and cover letter with your application. Applications without a portfolio will be rejected.

🚀 What you'll do

  • Design and validate zero-to-one concepts. Move from rough ideas to testable prototypes that increase confidence and reduce risk. Drive the visual identity for concepts that feel like Journi or explore new directions

  • Frame problems with PM and Engineering. Collaborate to balance user needs, business opportunities, and technical constraints before designing solutions

  • Run lean research to learn fast. Choose the right methods to validate assumptions quickly. Share insights that move the team forward

  • Thrive in ambiguity and change. Pivot when you learn something new. Embrace the fast-paced, iterative nature of finding PMF

  • Drive user-centered thinking. Keep teams focused on solving real customer problems in meetings and workshops

🎒 Your bag of tricks

  • 5+ years of experience in designing digital apps, and 2+ years of experience with native mobile apps. Show us a portfolio with strong craft and successful zero-to-one work in pre-PMF consumer-facing environments

  • Strong craft in Interaction Design, Visual Design, and Prototyping. Your work looks polished and intentional, even when it's exploratory

  • Proven experience validating early-stage concepts. You've successfully used research and experimentation to accelerate products toward PMF. You pick methods based on what you need to learn, not what you already know

  • Solid product sense. You think beyond pixels and balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility

  • Strong communication & presentation skills. You communicate with clarity and confidence. Your excellent English helps you present design work, lead workshops, and explain your decisions

  • Team-first mindset. You share context behind decisions and involve others in your process. You make your thinking visible so the team learns and grows

  • You have the right to work in the EU/Austria and are based in Vienna or open to relocating
