About Mappedin

Mappedin is the leading indoor mapping platform transforming the way venues are experienced, managed, and understood. Built for scale and trusted by the world's biggest brands, our AI-powered tools make indoor mapping fast, flexible, and easy to integrate—powering indoor experiences at top destinations worldwide.

With billions of square feet mapped across 57 countries, Mappedin helps make public spaces easier to explore, simpler to manage, and safer for every visitor.

The Role

Every product experience Mappedin delivers starts with a digital understanding of a physical space. This role is responsible for making that foundation stronger — and scalable.

We're looking for a Product Manager, Core Platform to own the evolution of Mappedin's core capabilities: mapping, positioning, spatial data, and the foundational systems that field teams and partners build on.

This is not a maintenance role. And it's not a features role.

Mappedin uses Field Deployed Engineers — FDEs — who build bespoke applications on top of the core platform for individual customers. Your job is to make sure that motion scales. That means deciding what gets hardened into the platform so FDEs can move faster and more consistently, what stays flexible for deployment-layer customization, and what patterns across customers and environments belong in core rather than living as one-off builds.

You'll work at the intersection of platform strategy, technical systems, and field reality — partnering closely with Engineering, FDEs, Customer Success, and customers to build the primitives that everything else depends on.

What You'll Do

Core Platform Strategy & Roadmap (30%)

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and prioritization for core platform capabilities — mapping, positioning, spatial data models, and foundational SDK/API surfaces

  • Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to sequence investments that strengthen the platform over time

  • Balance FDE deployment needs, customer outcomes, technical health, and business impact

  • Define success metrics that reflect real-world adoption and reliability — not just features shipped

Platform Reliability & Productization (30%)

  • Identify where FDE teams are building workarounds and determine what belongs in core vs. what stays in the deployment layer

  • Partner closely with Engineering to evolve the data models, APIs, and primitives that FDEs and partners build on

  • Turn recurring deployment patterns into reusable platform capabilities — reducing the need to reinvent from scratch at every new site

  • Drive decisions that improve consistency and reliability across wildly different venue environments

Customer & Field Insight (20%)

  • Engage directly with FDEs, customers, and implementation teams to understand how the platform is actually used in the field

  • Identify patterns across venues, industries, and deployment environments — not just the loudest customer request

  • Translate field signal into product direction with a clear point of view on what belongs in core vs. what stays bespoke

  • Stay close to the deployment reality rather than designing from the inside out

Cross-Functional Leadership (20%)

  • Coordinate across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Partnerships, and Go-To-Market teams

  • Communicate priorities, trade-offs, and technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

  • Help teams make informed, defensible decisions about where to invest and why

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in software or technology companies

  • Experience owning platform products, technical systems, infrastructure, developer tools, APIs, or data products — with a track record of building for builders, not just end users

  • Demonstrated ability to distinguish what belongs in a shared platform from what should stay in a deployment or customization layer — and the judgment to defend that line under pressure

  • Strong data model thinking — understanding how schema and API decisions compound over time and what consistency at the foundation enables

  • Comfort operating with incomplete information in fast-moving environments where priorities evolve

  • Experience partnering closely with engineering teams on technically complex systems

  • Strong communication skills — able to translate technical trade-offs into clear product direction for non-technical stakeholders

  • Track record of making decisions based on evidence and field reality, not internal assumptions

Nice to Have

  • Experience with mapping, GIS, spatial technologies, positioning systems, or location intelligence

  • Experience building platforms used by field deployment teams, professional services teams, or forward-deployed engineers

  • Experience with APIs, SDKs, or integration-heavy products where external builders depend on your surface

  • Experience applying AI within software products or workflows

This Role Is Probably Not for You If

  • You prefer working on user-facing features rather than the systems that underpin them

  • You solve each customer's problem individually without asking whether it belongs in the platform

  • You rely on certainty before making decisions

  • You need extensive direction before taking ownership

  • You find it hard to say no to a customer request in service of platform coherence

  • You find technical complexity more frustrating than interesting

The Team

You'll join a product organization working closely with Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Go-To-Market teams to solve challenging problems for customers around the world.

The culture is collaborative, low ego, and highly accountable. We value people who are curious, practical, thoughtful, and willing to challenge assumptions in pursuit of better outcomes.

Behind the Scenes

We move quickly and adapt as customer needs evolve. That means the exact challenges you're working on six months from now may not be the same as the ones you're tackling today. What won't change is the opportunity to solve meaningful technical problems, influence foundational product decisions, and help shape the future of a growing platform.

We believe in being transparent about how we hire. We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help record interviews and create notes for us to review later. Every application and interview is still reviewed by our People Operations team, and all hiring decisions are made by people — not AI.

We welcome applications from people with disabilities. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates upon request throughout the recruitment process.

What's In It For You

  • Competitive compensation: $160,000 - $200,000

  • 20 days of paid vacation starting on day one

  • Comprehensive health benefits

  • Meaningful ownership and influence over foundational platform capabilities

  • Opportunity to solve complex technical problems with real-world impact

  • A team of bar raisers with low ego and high ownership
