About Nothing

Nothing exists to make tech feel exciting again.

We're building a different kind of technology company, one that puts design, emotion, and human creativity at the heart of everything we do. From the way our products look and feel to how we communicate and show up in culture, we believe technology should make you feel something.

Founded in London in 2020, we've grown from idea to global challenger in just a few years. Backed by GV (Google Ventures), EQT Ventures, and C Ventures, and investors like Tony Fadell (iPod), Casey Neistat, and Kevin Lin (Twitch), we're now sold in 40+ markets with millions of users worldwide.

Studied maths, physics, engineering, computer science or another STEM subject, and wondering where your skills fit beyond a lab or a dev team? This role puts them to work on one of the most interesting systems any company runs: its people.

About the Team

Our UK People team is building the people function for Nothing Technology's next stage of growth. We work alongside colleagues in China, India and the US, so what we build has to scale across countries, time zones and employment rules.

We treat People as a product: our employees are the users, our HR platforms are the stack, and every process should be measurable and get better over time. We're a small team, so new joiners get real ownership early.

About the Role

This isn't a traditional people coordinator role. You'll sit where People, data and technology meet: owning our HR systems, turning people data into decisions, and automating the manual work that slows a growing team down.

You'll still learn the core of People operations, because good systems come from understanding the processes behind them. But your edge will be analytical and technical. Within your first year we'd expect you to own at least one system end to end and to have shipped automations or dashboards the wider business relies on.

No HR experience needed. We care more about how you think than what you've done before.

What You'll Do

You'll work across the full People & Workplace lifecycle, owning real pieces of work from day one rather than shadowing.

  • AI and automation: help design and test AI tools and workflows that take repetitive work off the team and give employees faster answers. You'll start with small, well-scoped automations and document how each one works and what data it touches.

  • People Operations: manage queries through the People team mailbox, keep Humaans (our HRIS) data accurate, and support joiners, leavers and payroll inputs.

  • Employee experience: help run onboarding and induction, socials, events and office communications.

  • Data and reporting: use AI to build dashboards and reports that show leaders what's happening across their teams, and help keep the underlying data clean so the numbers can be trusted.

  • Projects: support live priorities such as our office environment, talent mobility and performance coaching.

What We're Looking For

If you don't tick every box but think you'd be a great fit, we'd still love to hear from you.

  • A degree (graduating 2026 or 2027) in a STEM subject, such as maths, computer science, engineering, physics, data science or economics

  • Comfort with data: you've cleaned a messy dataset, built a model in a spreadsheet, or written some SQL or Python, at university, in a project or on your own

  • A systems mindset: you notice when a process is broken and want to understand why, not just work around it

  • Communication: clear, warm written and verbal communication; you can explain something technical to a non-technical colleague

  • Curiosity: curiosity about how organisations work and genuine care for the people experience

  • AI proficiency: comfortable using AI tools to speed up your work, with the judgement to check what they produce

  • Attention to detail: good organisation and attention to detail, especially with confidential information

Bonus Points

  • Experience with no-code or automation tools (Zapier, Make, Google Apps Script) or BI tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI)

  • A dissertation, hackathon, society role or side project where you built something people actually used

  • An internship or placement in any operational, analytical or technical role

What You'll Get

  • 25 days of annual leave, plus a day off for your birthday

  • Private health insurance via AXA

  • Gym, hobby and L&D allowance to support your wellbeing and growth

  • Cycle schemes for renting an e-bike or buying your own

  • Free lunch on Thursdays, plus breakfast and snacks

And a career that isn't boxed in. People Systems is a launchpad into HR technology, people analytics, operations or a broader People career. You'll work with a global team across China, India, the UK and the US, alongside colleagues from big tech and from companies built from the ground up.
