Head of Engineering – Commercial

We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the development and operations of our logistics technology platforms that power both customer-facing experiences and mission-critical back-office systems. This role will oversee engineering for our funnel products (mobile/web applications that drive customer acquisition, revenue conversion, and order management) as well as our productivity operational systems (HR, Finance, Legal, ERP).

The ideal candidate is a strategic technology leader with a proven record of delivering large-scale, high-availability systems, managing sizable engineering teams, and driving innovation through modern software practices and AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team (40+ engineers across mobile, backend, DevOps, and enterprise systems).

  • Partner with C-level leadership (Product, Operations, Finance, Commercial) to align technology execution with nationwide logistics and growth strategies.

  • Drive engineering culture focused on speed, reliability, scalability, and security.

  • Ensure technology decisions support operational efficiency in high-volume logistics environments.

Technology Ownership

  • Oversee development of customer-facing applications (iOS, Android, React Native, Node.js, Golang, Java) to drive funnel conversion, order tracking, payments, and client engagement.

  • Own and scale operational and back-office platforms (Odoo, HR, Finance/Accounting, Legal) with deep integration into logistics operations and nationwide delivery workflows.

  • Ensure applications stability that are streamlined with high TPS backends to perform seamlessly at scale.

  • Guarantee 99.99% uptime across mission-critical systems powering revenue generating activities.

Engineering Excellence

  • Champion CI/CD pipelines, trunk-based development, GitFlow, and test automation to support rapid, reliable deployments.

  • Drive adoption of AI/ML tools to accelerate development, improve forecasting, routing optimization, fraud detection, and anomaly monitoring.

  • Implement best-in-class security practices, ensuring compliance with data protection standards, logistics industry regulations, and financial integrity.

  • Lead system observability and incident response frameworks to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.

Operational Impact

  • Collaborate closely with operations teams to translate logistics workflows into scalable digital systems.

  • Build resilient platforms capable of handling nationwide network complexity, high concurrency, and peak demand during seasonal spikes.

  • Optimize infrastructure cost vs. performance for cloud-native environments (GCP/AWS).

  • Enhance back-office automation and reporting systems to streamline HR, finance, and compliance functions.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years in software engineering with at least 8 years in senior engineering leadership roles.

  • Proven success leading large engineering teams (40+ engineers) in operationally heavy, mission-critical environments.

  • Hands-on experience with scalable, high-throughput systems requiring 99.99% uptime.

  • Strong technical background in mobile/web platforms, microservices, real-time logistics/transaction systems.

  • Expertise in current stack: Swift, Kotlin, Golang, Java, Node.js, React Native, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kubernetes.

  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, trunk-based development, and DevOps best practices.

  • Strong foundation in software security, secure architecture, and compliance frameworks.

Preferred / Good-to-Have

  • Experience in logistics, e-commerce, or fintech platforms with high operational complexity.

  • Familiarity with routing optimization, fleet management, supply chain integrations, or real-time delivery tracking systems.

  • Success in scaling platforms across a nationwide user and operations base.

  • Knowledge of AI/ML in logistics optimization (e.g., demand forecasting, route planning, predictive maintenance).

  • Experience with AI/ML for software delivery acceleration, personalization, or operational automation.

  • Prior success in balancing funnel (revenue-critical) systems and internal back-office platforms.

  • Exposure to enterprise-grade ERP systems integration and customization.

  • Strong financial literacy and experience collaborating with CFO/COO on cost optimization and system investments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, executive communication, and cross-functional leadership.
