Role Summary

Role: Head of Vehicle Engineering

Location: Fremont, CA.

We are seeking a seasoned executive to lead Pebble’s vehicle engineering team. As the Head of Vehicle Engineering, you will be a key driving force behind the development of our pioneering vehicles, from concept to serial production. You will lead a talented team of engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders in Design, Marketing, Operations, and Software to ensure a holistic approach to vehicle development. In addition to overseeing engineering, integration, and validation processes, you will also play a pivotal role in shaping the company's future product vision and roadmaps.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the end-to-end automotive vehicle engineering development, from initial concept to serial production. Overseeing vehicle engineering across mechanical, thermal, electrical, integration and validation.

  • Establish and execute a clear and ambitious engineering strategy in alignment with Pebble's overall goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with leaders from various departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to product development.

  • Provide technical leadership across all aspects of vehicle engineering, from exterior, body, chassis, trim, closure, lighting to interior. 

  • Execute with engineering excellence. Maintain a strong focus on product quality, safety, and cost.

  • Manage supplier relationships and escalations. Drive on-time and quality execution.

  • Develop and communicate product roadmaps that guide the company's long-term growth and innovation.

  • Build a world-class engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

  • Manage the departmental budget effectively, optimizing resource allocation to meet project goals.

  • Establish appropriate engineering processes and optimize for efficiency.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 15 - 25 years of experience in automotive industries

  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in senior leadership roles within automotive product development. Successful launch of high volume automotive products.

  • Experience with electric vehicle (EV) technology is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of automotive engineering principles, integration, and validation processes.

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to shape long-term product vision and execute on it.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.

  • Adaptable and thrive in an early stage startup environment that is fast-paced, rapidly evolving. Comfortable rolling up the sleeves to solve problems.

  • Experience with RV is a bonus
