Role Summary
Software QA Engineer
Onsite Fremont, CA
As an iOS QA Engineer, you will focus on manual software testing to validate functionality, user interactions, and overall product performance across iPhone and iPad applications. You will work closely with software engineers and product teams to execute test plans, document issues, and ensure high-quality releases. Your primary focus will be on end-to-end testing, exploratory testing, and identifying software defects that impact the iOS user experience.
Responsibilities
Execute manual blackbox test cases to validate iOS app functionality, system interactions, and platform-specific behaviors across iPhone and iPad form factors.
Identify, document, and track software defects using industry-standard tools (e.g., Jira) to support timely issue resolution.
Conduct functional, regression, usability, and exploratory testing across multiple iOS versions and Apple device configurations.
Verify app reliability, responsiveness, and visual consistency across various iPhone and iPad screen sizes and OS versions.
Test across key iOS subsystems including push notifications, background refresh, iCloud sync, accessibility and system permissions.
Provide detailed feedback on user experience, performance, edge cases, and adherence to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (HIG).
Participate in test planning, sprint reviews, and App Store release validation.
Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of iOS-specific test cases and regression suites.
Minimum Qualifications
2–7 years of experience in software QA with a strong focus on manual testing of native iOS applications for iPhone and iPad.
Hands-on experience testing on physical iOS devices across multiple generations and OS versions.
Solid understanding of QA methodologies, software testing processes, and defect lifecycle management.
Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of iOS platform behaviors, app lifecycle, and Apple's HIG.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze, reproduce, and clearly report software issues.
Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment.
Nice to Have
Exposure to App Store submission and review processes.
Basic understanding of Swift or Objective-C to better collaborate with engineering teams.
