Lead Finance Controller
Job type: Full Time · Department: Finance · Work type: On-Site

ABOUT PLUM
Plum is an employee insurance and health benefits platform focused on making health insurance simple, accessible, and inclusive for modern organisations. Healthcare in India is seeing a phenomenal shift — healthcare cost inflation is running at 3x the general inflation rate, and a majority of Indians cannot afford health insurance on their own. As many as 600 million Indians will likely depend on employer-sponsored insurance, and Plum is on a mission to serve 10 million lives by FY2030, through companies that care. Plum is backed by Tiger Global and Peak XV Partners.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Lead Finance Controller, you will be a core member of Plum's finance function — owning the month-end close, keeping GST and tax compliance watertight, and working closely with the Finance Controller on statutory audits and controllership priorities. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role: you will be deep in the books, driving accuracy and rigour across our financial reporting. It is an ideal fit for a high-ownership CA who wants full-cycle finance exposure inside a fast-growing insurtech.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Monthly book closure: Drive end-to-end month-end close — journals, provisions, accruals, prepaids, and revenue recognition — with clean, on-time delivery.
Reconciliations: Own bank, customer, GST, TDS, and intercompany reconciliations with full documentation.
GST & direct-tax compliance: Review GST returns, TDS workings, and coordination with external tax consultants; flag and resolve exceptions proactively.
Statutory audit support: Serve as the primary internal point of contact for statutory auditors — schedules, queries, and sign-off support.
Balance-sheet integrity: Maintain and review BS schedules; ensure accounting treatments are aligned with Indian GAAP.
Process & controls: Identify control gaps and drive process improvements; bonus if you can layer in automation or AI tooling.
Cross-functional partnering: Collaborate with RevOps and FP&A on reporting inputs and business queries.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-haves
Qualified CA with 2–3 years of post-articleship experience.
Completed at least one full statutory audit engagement — as preparer or in-charge.
Hands-on monthly book closure experience.
Working knowledge of GST (direct and indirect) and TDS.
Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with any ERP (Zoho Books is a plus, not a gate).
Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and comfort with a fast-moving environment.
Good to have
Internal audit exposure — even one engagement will set you apart.
Experience from a practice background where you owned client deliverables end-to-end.
Background in product, SaaS, fintech, or similar sectors (industry is open; no hard preference).
Bias toward fixing things, not just flagging them.
