Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.

• Analyze labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs to provide comprehensive pricing.

• Utilize estimating software and tools to complete detailed material and quantity takeoffs.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to understand geotechnical information, utility plans, and construction phasing.

• Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

• Assist in bid preparation and submission, ensuring compliance with project/municipal requirements.

• Participate in project meetings and provide input on project feasibility and cost implications.

• Conduct post-project evaluations to compare estimated costs with actual expenditures,

• identifying areas for improvement.

• Safeguard confidential information, including cost data, bid details, and client records, as required by company policy.

• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for materials, trucking, disposal, equipment, and specialty work, negotiating where necessary.

• Review bid documents for scope gaps, conflicts, exclusions, and potential risks.

• Conduct on-site job walks to analyze existing site conditions compared to project plans.

• Communicate extensively with clients to prepare RFIs and bid clarification questions to ensure bid accuracy.

• Upon project award, assist with estimating-to-operations handoff, including quantities, assumptions, subcontractor quotes, and project risks.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in estimating, within heavy civil, site development, excavation, grading, demolition, or underground utilities.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams and clients.

• Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.

• Knowledge of demolition processes and equipment

• Proficient in estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or HeavyBid.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.

• Knowledge of local material, trucking, disposal, labor, and equipment costs.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to work in an office environment and conduct site visits as needed.

• Capability to navigate construction sites, which may involve walking on uneven terrain.

• Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 lbs as necessary.

• Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

• Must be good with multi-tasking and handling multiple projects at the same time.

• Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.

• Strong verbal, written, and oral communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in an office environment and conduct site visits as needed.

• Capability to navigate construction sites, which may involve walking on uneven terrain.

• Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 lbs as necessary.

Compensation:

• $80,000 - $120,000 based on experience

• Bonus incentives based on performance

• Company phone and mileage reimbursement for site visits

Job Details: This is a full-time position on-site, Monday through Friday. This position would report directly to the Head of Sales.
