French Florist in Los Angeles is seeking a creative, experienced, and passionate Lead Floral Designer to join and grow with our team. Overview: The Lead Florist/Designer oversees the daily floral production team at French Florist. This role ensures that all floral designs meet company standards for quality and creativity while maintaining efficiency and organization in the design department. The Design Lead works alongside and manages a team of designers, creating arrangements, overseeing supply inventory, and fostering a collaborative, productive, and creative work environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure designers design and produce floral arrangements to company standards for quality and style.
Assign orders to designers, monitor the completion of all daily orders and accurately have them sent out with dispatch per their delivery time.
Work directly with dispatch with any delivery issues.
Communicate with the CSR team and Lead with any client order issues or floral replacements needed for client outreach.
Ensure workspaces, floral window displays, and plant areas remain clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Assist with restocking supplies, including FF branded marketing materials, Add ons, designer supplies, etc.
Assist walk-in customers with any questions or orders, providing excellent customer service.
Support shop operations and collaborate with team members as needed.
Coordinate with internal teams via Slack to ensure seamless service.
Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Team Leadership & Management:
Supervise designers by delegating tasks, scheduling, monitoring overtime and meal penalties and ensuring accountability to our core values and employee handbook.
Lead by example with a hands-on approach, supporting the team during high-volume periods.
Conduct regular performance conversations, including coaching, documentation, and corrective action when necessary.
Hold designers accountable while fostering professional development in alignment with company values.
Track productivity metrics within the design team.
Attend and participate in required corporate meetings and training.
Design Operations:
Oversee daily floral production to ensure all designs meet French Florist’s standards for quality and style.
Train and onboard new designers, ensuring they are proficient in company standards, design techniques, and tools.
Maintain and manage inventory of designer supplies (e.g., orchids, water tubes, tools, floral materials).
Ensure design stations, floral window displays, client facing areas,wrap station, card/printer station and plant areas are clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Provide creative leadership while balancing efficiency and operational flow.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in floral design with a strong understanding of styles, mechanics, and trends
Previous team leadership or management experience preferred
Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
Passion for flowers, design, and creating memorable customer experiences
Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
Must be able to lift, carry, and move items up to 30 lbs (flower buckets, boxes, supplies)
Frequent use of hands and arms for cutting, arranging, and wrapping flowers
Comfortable working in a cooler environment and handling water-based materials
Compensation, Schedule and Benefits:
$70,500/year
Paid Time Off, annual professional development stipend, monthly cellphone reimbursement
Full time, Tuesday - Saturday.
