S&S Property Management, Inc. is a full service property management company specializing in the management of multi-family apartment communities in Orange County, CA since 2002.

Job Summary: S&S is seeking an experienced, full-time controller to manage and maintain all aspects of bookkeeping and financial record keeping for multiple apartment communities in Orange County, CA as well as out of state commercial properties.

The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of bookkeeping and accounting for S&S.

  • Responsible for supervising and administration of journal entry posting by staff

  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions including overseeing and supervising accounts receivable and payable, cash management and reports.

  • Administrate and supervise vendor billings and invoice payment.

  • Ensuring tenant ledgers are current, accurate and meet CA DRE compliance regulations.

  • Ensuring timely processing of resident moveouts and security deposit refunds.

  • Reconciliation of all bank accounts for multiple entities.

  • Oversee data entry by others and review for accuracy and compliance with company policy.

  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports including operating statements and balance sheets for multiple entities.

  • Participate in annual operating budget preparation and monitor on monthly basis.

  • Prepare and deliver accounting and financial information to outside CPA for tax filing.

  • Manage and oversee payroll and company payments for health insurance, 401k and workers comp.

  • Provide leadership and qualitative input on financial operations.

  • Provide clear and consistent feedback to staff on bookkeeping and financial functions.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years controller experience for real estate/property management company.

  • Minimum 3 year experience with Yardi software.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related area preferred.

  • Self-starter able to initiate and complete tasks both independently and as a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and strong organizational abilities.

  • High level of proficiency in the use and operation of MS Office, including Word, Excel & Outlook.

  • Strict attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
