Rogers-O'Brien Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic Preconstruction team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in evaluating bid documents, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and developing precise estimates that are essential for winning and successfully executing commercial construction projects.
As an Estimator with Rogers-O'Brien Construction, you will collaborate closely with our project management and field teams to ensure that all estimates are aligned with our strategic objectives. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Skills & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related technical field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of preconstruction experience in commercial construction
- Experience estimating projects in the $5M–$15M+ range preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
- Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, SmartBid, or Building Connected and Destini or Sage Estimating preferred
- Ability to solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions in a preconstruction environment
Responsibilities
- Review bid specifications, drawings, and related documents to fully understand project scope
- Perform quantity take-offs and input data into estimating software to develop accurate cost estimates
- Solicit, track, and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure comprehensive bid coverage
- Monitor subcontractor participation to ensure full bid coverage and competitive pricing
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project interviews as required to gather essential project information
- Prepare bid tabulations, qualification attachments, and maintain organized post-bid files
- Submit and follow up on RFIs during the bidding process to clarify project requirements
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents on schedules and constructability considerations to ensure project feasibility
