Why this role exists

As SaaS Labs continues to scale across geographies, taxation has become a strategic function rather than a compliance exercise. With operations spanning India and the United States, increasing regulatory complexity, and growing cross-border transactions, we need a Finance Lead - Tax who can ensure the business remains compliant, efficient, and well-positioned for growth.

This role sits at the intersection of tax, finance, and business strategy - owning end-to-end tax operations across India and the US while partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Payroll, and external advisors. Beyond managing compliance, this person will help the company navigate expansion, optimize processes, assess tax implications of key business decisions, and build the foundations needed to support a global SaaS organization at scale.

What you'll actually do

• Own end-to-end direct and indirect tax compliance for India, including GST, TDS/TCS, corporate tax filings, assessments, audits, and notices.

• Coordinate US federal, state, local, and sales tax compliance activities in partnership with external CPA firms and advisors.

• Manage tax reporting, reconciliations, provisions, and tax-related balance sheet reviews to support accurate financial reporting.

• Partner with tax advisors, auditors, and government authorities on compliance, assessments, and regulatory matters across jurisdictions.

• Support transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and cross-border tax requirements for global operations.

• Advise internal stakeholders on the tax implications of new products, business models, entity structures, and market expansions.

• Drive automation, process improvements, and scalable tax operations as the company grows globally.

What we're looking for

• CA qualified (preferred) or equivalent with strong specialization in taxation.

• 4-7 years of experience managing tax operations in a SaaS, technology, startup, multinational, or consulting environment.

• Strong expertise in Indian taxation, including GST, corporate tax, and TDS/TCS compliance.

• Working knowledge of US federal, state, and sales tax compliance requirements.

• Experience partnering with external auditors, consultants, and tax authorities.

• Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting.

• Ability to independently manage multiple tax workstreams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Edges that help

• Familiarity with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar systems.

• Experience building or scaling tax processes in a venture-backed SaaS company.

• Exposure to M&A, entity restructuring, or international expansion projects.

• Demonstrated track record of driving automation and operational efficiency within finance functions.
