The Role
We’re looking for a Quality Control Technician to help protect that standard every day on the production floor. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and takes pride in doing things the right way. You’ll support daily quality and food safety checks across product, equipment, and the facility, helping ensure every step of production meets Seremoni’s expectations for safety, quality, and consistency.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their QA/QC career who wants to learn, grow, and build strong food safety and quality fundamentals in a high-standard seafood production environment.
What You’ll Do
Perform Daily Quality & Food Safety Checks
Conduct in-line food safety and quality checks throughout production, including:
Product temperature verification
Chemical concentration testing
Metal detector checks
Product inspection and sampling
Perform sensory evaluations to assess product quality, freshness, and conformance to standards.
Collect and prepare product samples for microbial testing and other routine quality verification activities.
Help identify and escalate issues quickly when product or process conditions fall outside expected standards.
Support Sanitation & Environmental Monitoring
Perform environmental monitoring tasks, including:
ATP swabbing
Water and ice sample collection
Food-contact and facility swabbing
Verify equipment and facility sanitation prior to startup and support ongoing sanitation checks as needed.
Help ensure the production environment is maintained in a clean, controlled, and audit-ready condition.
Maintain GMP & Compliance Discipline
Support enforcement of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and daily food safety expectations throughout the facility.
Assist with internal audits, routine inspections, and traceability checks.
Help ensure production activities align with internal quality standards and applicable regulatory or customer requirements.
Support adherence to HACCP and other food safety programs through careful observation, documentation, and escalation of issues.
Own Accurate Documentation
Complete quality and food safety records clearly, accurately, and on time.
Maintain organized digital and paper documentation related to daily checks, monitoring activities, and compliance programs.
Use computers and digital tools to enter and maintain production and QA/QC records.
Help ensure records are complete, legible, and audit-ready.
What You’ll Need
1+ year of quality assurance or quality control experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
Experience with some combination of:
In-process quality checks
Record review
Internal audits
Traceability
Routine food safety monitoring
Seafood experience is preferred, but not required.
Experience in other highly perishable food or protein processing environments is a plus.
Education & Certifications
Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
HACCP certification is preferred (current or obtained within the last 5 years).
Skills & Qualifications
Technical / Quality Systems
Basic understanding of HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, and food safety fundamentals.
General understanding of microbiology, environmental monitoring, and aseptic sampling techniques.
Comfortable following SOPs and standard work with a high level of consistency and attention to detail.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
Comfortable using digital systems to maintain accurate records.

Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for doing things correctly.
Effective communicator who can work well within QA and cross-functionally with production teams.

Spanish/English bilingual is a plus.

Daily quality and food safety checks are completed thoroughly and consistently.
Issues are caught early and escalated quickly.
Documentation is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

Physical & Working Conditions
This is a hands-on role based in a seafood processing / production environment.
Must be comfortable working in cold, wet, refrigerated, and fast-paced production settings.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Schedule flexibility may be required based on production needs.

Other Things to Know
This role is fully on-site at the Tacoma processing facility.
Occasional off-hours or weekend support may be required to ensure safe and continuous operations.
Reports to operations leadership with close collaboration across Shinkei Systems and Seremoni Seafoods teams.
