What You’ll Get To Do
We are seeking a Founding Accountant to build and own the accounting function from the ground up. This role is both hands-on and strategic. You will establish the financial backbone of the company and partner closely with leadership to enable scale.
Build the Accounting Foundation
Establish accurate and timely monthly close process
Own the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
Implement accrual accounting, including expenses, prepaid assets, and fixed assets
Clean up and maintain a reliable, audit-ready balance sheet
Inventory, Revenue, and Cost of Goods Sold
Build systems to track inventory (robots and seafood), yield, shrinkage, and SKU-level profitability
Partner with operations to establish reliable COGS and gross margin reporting
Reconcile sales to cash and ensure revenue accuracy
Develop standard costing frameworks, including yield, labor, and overhead allocation
Systems and Infrastructure
Evaluate and lead migration from QuickBooks to a scalable ERP system
Implement systems for inventory and cost accounting
Build cost center tracking and reporting structures
Ensure data integrity between operations and finance systems
Process and Controls
Design and implement scalable processes across order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles
Build inventory tracking and reconciliation processes
Introduce internal controls and audit readiness standards
Reduce AR aging and improve cash collection discipline
Multi-Entity and Scaling Complexity
Build multi-entity reporting and consolidation processes
Implement intercompany accounting and transfer pricing frameworks
Prepare the company for future audited financial statements
Support scaling into manufacturing and plant operations
What You’ll Need
5–10+ years of accounting or finance experience
Strong GAAP foundation
Experience in at least one of the following: manufacturing, inventory-heavy business, or food / perishable goods / CPG
Proven ability to build accounting processes from scratch
Deep understanding of inventory accounting, cost accounting (standard costing and variances), and revenue recognition
Bonus Points If You Have
ERP implementation or migration experience
Multi-entity and consolidation experience
Experience in high-SKU, high-volume environments
Familiarity with yield-based production systems
