Pay: $25-32/hr

This is a hands-on production role. Engineering Technicians are directly responsible for building and integrating Shinkei's production machines. Technicians own assigned subassemblies and build stages, execute work from engineering documentation, troubleshoot issues during integration, and are responsible for delivering completed work that meets Shinkei's quality and production standards.

What You’ll Do

• Support the build, integration, debugging, and testing of robotic subsystems, production hardware, and test fixtures.

• Assist with assembly of actuators, structures, fluid systems, harnesses, and other electro-mechanical assemblies. Perform harness builds, rework, and routing for development and production units.

• Assist with troubleshooting assemblies and root-cause investigations.

• Maintain a clean, organized lab and production environment and help manage tools and spare inventory.

• Opportunity to support field deployments and hardware upgrades.

• Work with the Production Coordinator to reliably meet build timelines, production goals, and address change orders.

• Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to bring prototypes to life, maintain hardware, and support field deployments.

What You’ll Need

• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication.

• Ability or willingness to learn how to read mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, and harness diagrams and translate into hands-on production builds.

• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies through work, school, personal projects, or similar experience.

• Comfort working with or willingness to learn about motors, actuators, sensors, PCBAs, and wiring.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D environment where designs, priorities, and processes can change.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.

• Proactive, dependable, and willing to take ownership of assigned work.

• Comfortable switching between mechanical assembly, electrical work, and everything in between.

• Willingness to learn on the job, ask questions, and receive and apply feedback.

Bonus Experience

• Industrial crimping tools, D-sub, and circular connectors

• Low-voltage electrical systems and safe troubleshooting

• Pumps, valves, pneumatics, or other fluid systems

• Basic Linux command line or Python

• Prototype bring-up

• Field deployments or hardware installation

• Robotics, automation, manufacturing, or test environments

As Shinkei scales our Poseidon machines into continued repeatable production, manufacturing quality and consistency directly impact the reliability of every machine deployed in the field. Technicians play a critical role in that process. The work isn't simply about assembling parts; it’s about executing builds correctly, consistently, and to a defined standard.

Our hardware and processes continue to evolve as we iterate on Poseidon. Technicians are expected to follow build instructions, drawings, BOMs, and established standards closely, while identifying discrepancies and communicating opportunities for process improvement. We are building toward reliable, repeatable manufacturing processes that produce reliable, repeatable machines.
