About the role:

Lead our Anti-Money Laundering function as an Assistant Vice President, driving transaction monitoring, investigations, regulatory compliance, and financial crime risk management. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen the bank's AML framework, build scalable controls, and ensure compliance with RBI and PMLA regulations.

What you will do:

  • Lead the AML operations function, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, customer risk reviews, and case investigations.

  • Ensure compliance with RBI, PMLA, FIU-IND, FATF, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Review and approve Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), Cash Transaction Reports (CTRs), and regulatory submissions.

  • Drive continuous improvement of AML monitoring rules, risk scenarios, and investigation workflows to improve detection efficiency.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to implement AML controls across products and customer journeys.

  • Conduct AML risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for new products, channels, and business initiatives.

  • Monitor key AML metrics, identify emerging risks, and present insights to senior leadership.

  • Lead internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and ensure timely closure of observations.

  • Develop and implement AML policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks.

  • Mentor and manage a high-performing AML team, driving capability building and operational excellence.

  • Leverage data analytics and automation to improve productivity, reduce false positives, and enhance investigation quality.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Law, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree is preferred.

  • 8–12+ years of experience in AML, Financial Crime Compliance, Fraud Risk, or Regulatory Compliance within Banking, FinTech, or Financial Services.

  • Strong knowledge of PMLA, RBI Master Directions, FIU-IND reporting requirements, KYC/CDD/EDD, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring.

  • Experience handling regulatory audits, compliance reviews, and governance reporting.

  • Proven experience leading AML investigation teams and managing large-scale operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex transaction patterns and identify financial crime risks.

  • Experience working with AML monitoring tools, case management systems, SQL, or data analytics platforms is an added advantage.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

  • CAMS, ICA, or other AML/Compliance certifications are preferred.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while driving operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
