About the role:  

We’re launching a new Financial Infrastructure team at Traild to build the next generation of our payments and platform capabilities from the ground up. We’re looking for a Tech Lead with experience building large-scale payment infrastructure in fintech, payments, or other high-volume transaction environments. 

In this role, you will design and build the foundational systems that power Traild’s platform, working on high-impact, mission-critical services. You’ll play a key role in setting the technical direction for the team, mentoring engineers, and driving technical and business decisions. 

This team will own a critical business channel of the company, making this an opportunity to shape core infrastructure that directly impacts Traild’s growth and product capabilities. 

What you’ll do:  

• Lead end-to-end development – Own features from early concept through production. Drive the design and delivery of real systems that power the platform, ensuring high quality and reliability in production. 

• Drive technical direction – Look beyond individual tasks, understand the broader system and business context, and help shape both product and technical decisions. This is not a ticket-driven role. 

• Mentor and elevate the team – Support and guide engineers through technical challenges, review designs and code, and help set a high technical bar for the team. 

• Leverage AI-accelerated development practices – Use modern AI development tools to improve engineering velocity, code quality, and testing efficiency while building secure and scalable infrastructure. 

• Backend-focused with a platform mindset – Your primary focus will be backend and platform services, while collaborating across APIs, data, and infrastructure when needed. 

• Design and build for scale – Architect and implement backend services that are reliable, maintainable, and designed to scale with Traild’s platform and transaction volumes. 

What you will bring:  

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong backend focus. 

• Proven experience building or operating large-scale payment infrastructure in fintech, payments, or other high-volume transaction environments. 

• Experience building and operating real-time, mission-critical systems where low latency, correctness, and high availability are essential. 

• Experience mentoring engineers and leading complex technical decisions, with a strong passion for technical leadership and elevating the team around you. 

• Proven track record of taking products and systems from 0 to 1, balancing speed, quality, and innovative problem-solving. 

• Strong builder mindset, with experience taking complex systems from idea to production and successfully scaling them in production environments. 

• Comfortable operating across the stack when needed, from APIs and business logic to infrastructure and deployment. 

• Production experience with Python and Go, building scalable backend services and high-performance systems. 

• Deep experience working with GCP, designing and operating production-grade systems in cloud environments. 

• A modern engineering mindset, leveraging automation and AI-powered development tools to increase engineering impact and velocity. 

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in small, senior teams and across global teams, ensuring clear alignment and communication
