TL;DR

Trainual is looking for a Full  Stack AI Product Designer— otherwise known as a “Product Design Engineer”. A designer-first role for someone who pairs exceptional product design craft with a strong understanding of modern AI workflows and frontend development.

You’ll design high-quality user experiences, contribute to product squads, and help evolve how design and engineering work together in an AI-augmented development environment. While design excellence is the core of this role, you’ll also bring enough frontend and technical fluency to help bridge the gap between design and engineering

You’ll partner closely with other designers, engineers, and product managers to ship thoughtful, polished experiences while helping ensure our design system and workflows work seamlessly in an AI-driven product development world.

So… who are you?

You’re a designer at heart with exceptional UX and visual craft who is energized by the intersection of design, engineering, and AI.

You love designing intuitive experiences, but you’re also curious about how things are built and how emerging tools can make teams faster and more creative.

You thrive working inside product squads while also helping elevate the broader design team.

Someone who would make a great fit for this role would:

  • Care deeply about user-centered design, clarity, and visual polish.

  • Double tap on visual design. We have a super high bar for craft, and we aren’t letting up. You have to love it.

  • Enjoy experimenting with AI tools and workflows that accelerate design and product development

  • Want to help ensure design systems and product interfaces are ready for AI-assisted and agentic development environments

  • Have strong product design instincts and systems thinking

  • Are comfortable collaborating closely with engineers and understanding how interfaces translate to code

  • Love teaching and working with other designers, sharing your knowledge and carrying the groceries!

What you will own & contribute to

Product design within squads

You’ll be embedded in a product squad where you’ll:

  • Own product design problems from discovery through shipped execution

  • Translate research, insights, and experiments into intuitive, polished experiences

  • Collaborate closely with PMs and engineers to deliver thoughtful product solutions

  • Ensure design intent and user experience quality are preserved through implementation

Design system & design-engineering collaboration

You’ll help strengthen the bridge between design and engineering by:

  • Contributing to and evolving our design system for consistency and scalability

  • Partnering with engineers to ensure components translate cleanly from design to code

  • Helping designers better understand the technical realities of the product

  • Ensuring our design system works effectively in modern AI-assisted development environments

AI-driven design workflows

You’ll help the team experiment with and adopt modern AI-powered workflows, including:

  • Using tools like Claude, GPTs, Figma AI tools, and other emerging platforms to accelerate exploration and prototyping

  • Expanding how the team ideates, prototypes, and tests product ideas

  • Improving documentation, communication, and design-to-development handoffs through AI

Raising the bar for design quality

As a senior designer, you’ll also help elevate the team by:

  • Providing thoughtful feedback in critiques and async reviews

  • Collaborating with designers across squads to strengthen design craft

  • Advocating for clarity, simplicity, and strong UX across the product

  • Helping maintain a high bar for visual design and interaction quality

What you already know

  • 5+ years designing SaaS products

  • Exceptional UX and UI craft — you care about the details and visual polish

  • Strong experience with Figma and design systems

  • Comfort working closely with engineers and understanding how design translates to frontend implementation

  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS or modern frontend frameworks (you don’t need to be an engineer, but you understand how interfaces are built)

  • Experience working in cross-functional product squads

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Extremely comfortable and confident using AI tools in your design workflow

  • Experience with Windsurf/Claude Code/Cursor a plus
