Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Engineer to lead the technical direction of our frontend platform, focusing on React, React Native, and cross-platform development. You will work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to establish best practices, build reusable components, optimize performance, and drive frontend architectural decisions.

As a member of the frontend platform team, you will be acting as a force multiplier, enabling other frontend developers to be more productive and build better user interfaces. You will focus on the foundational aspects of frontend development, ensuring that the development process is smooth, efficient, and results in high-quality applications.

What will I be doing?

• Frontend Platform Development & Architecture

  • Lead the development of a scalable frontend platform supporting both web and mobile applications.

  • Design and implement responsive, high-performance, and accessible UI components using React and React Native. In so doing, maintain our design system and component library ensuring UI/UX consistency across our applications and experiences.

  • Continuously research and evaluate the latest frontend libraries, frameworks, and best practices to ensure a modern, efficient platform.

• Developer Experience & Tooling

  • Enhance CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and frontend build systems to guarantee a high standard of developer productivity.

  • Champion best coding practices, code reviews, and mentorship to strengthen the engineering team.

  • Provide clear and comprehensive documentation for the platform, its components, and its tools to make it easy for other developers to use.

• Performance Optimization & Technical Excellence

  • Audit our codebase and implement performance best practices including code splitting, lazy loading, and asynchronous rendering.

  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in rendering, memory usage, and API interactions, bringing in the appropriate teams and various owners where necessary.

  • Define and monitor core web vitals and mobile performance metrics to improve application responsiveness.

• Cross-team collaboration

  • Implement efficient solutions for navigation, state management, and API integrations in a cross-platform environment and push adoption across the teams.

  • Work closely with backend teams to define and optimize API contracts where necessary.

  • Work closely with the backend platform team for full stack platform initiatives across the stack.

  • Lead internal workshops, documentation efforts, and knowledge-sharing sessions for all things platform and tooling-related.

What do I need?

• Industry Experience - 8+ years of experience in frontend development, with expertise in React and React Native. Experience in maintaining component libraries/design systems and building out platform-level tooling for the frontend.

• Technical Leadership - Proven experience leading technical design discussions and collaborating across teams to build scalable, high-performing systems. Beyond coding, you mentor, guide, and elevate the entire team.

• Problem-solving skills - Possess a strong aptitude for tackling complex technical challenges, from high-level architectural design down to intricate implementation details. Adept at identifying root causes, evaluating solutions, and implementing effective resolutions.

• Frontend Knowledge - Solid understanding of web fundamentals (JavaScript, HTML, CSS). An expert in modern frontend frameworks such as React and React Native along with the tooling that surrounds the developer experience.

• Performance Optimization & API Integration - Proven track record in performance optimization, debugging, and profiling for web and mobile applications. Experience working with GraphQL, gRPC and RESTful APIs.

• Fast Learner – Willingness to quickly adopt and work with new technologies.

• Product & UX Focus – You care about more than just code. You understand product, user experience, and design, proactively spotting and acting on opportunities for improvement.
