We are expanding our legal team in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to join our dynamic team, supporting our growth across multiple APAC markets.

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Commercial Counsel with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification legal experience to join our team. This role will be crucial in supporting our APAC commercial operations, focusing on high-volume commercial negotiations, drafting, and reviewing a variety of agreements. The successful candidate will be a key legal partner, building strong rapport with internal stakeholders to drive business while ensuring legal compliance and effective risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Commercial Contracts and Negotiation

    • Lead and execute commercial negotiations for customer contracts and strategic partnerships across the APAC region.

    • Draft, review, and negotiate Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).

    • Maintain and update contract templates and standard terms for regional consistency and efficiency.

  2. Stakeholder Partnership

    • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with critical internal business partners, Sales, Customer Success, and Procurement teams, among others.

    • Provide prompt, practical, and commercially-minded legal advice to internal clients on day-to-day commercial matters.

    • Support cross-functional business initiatives with legal guidance, documentation, and training.

  3. Legal Advisory and Risk Management

    • Identify, assess, and advise on legal risks in business transactions, proposing pragmatic mitigation strategies tailored for the APAC environment.

    • Ensure all contract terms comply with applicable local and regional laws and regulations.

    • Assist in developing, updating, and enforcing company policies and procedures relevant to commercial activities in APAC.

Required Qualifications

  1. Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.

    • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law, preferably in a fast-paced technology or global services company.

    • Proven experience in leading contract drafting, review, and high-stakes commercial negotiation.

    • Experience working with or supporting business operations across multiple APAC jurisdictions is highly desirable.

  2. Legal Knowledge

    • Strong understanding of international contract law and commercial regulations.

    • Familiarity with various technology agreements, service agreements, and licensing models.

    • Knowledge of data protection and privacy laws relevant to the APAC region.

  3. Skills and Competencies

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and professionally to business teams.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

    • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

    • Ability to work independently and as a proactive, collaborative member of a global legal team.
