At Varo, we are on a mission to redefine banking, and our Data & Analytics team is the engine driving that transformation. We are seeking a Sr. Data Analyst to move beyond traditional reporting and become a true architect of business outcomes. You will act as a high-velocity partner to our stakeholders, translating complex data into the "next best question" that scales our deposit and spending products.
This is a high-impact, hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York. You won’t just be managing data; you’ll be building a "Customer 360" vector model to personalize the banking experience for millions. Whether you’re automating dispute processes or modeling the unit economics of next-gen products, your work will directly influence the roadmap of the country’s first all-digital, nationally chartered bank.
Drive Strategic Insights: Move beyond transactional reporting to deliver deep-dive analytics on unit economics and customer activation efficiency.
Build the "Customer 360": Develop sophisticated vector models and customer profiling to define personalization opportunities and improve how users interact with their financial lives.
Modernize Data Architecture: Partner with engineering to transition toward a semantic summary layer, ensuring faster delivery of insights across the organization.
Execute GenAI Solutions: Deploy high-velocity GenAI applications (agents) and LLMs to drive operational productivity, specifically automating manual processes within the Disputes department while improving the productivity of the analytics team too.
Influence Leadership: Present concise, high-stakes narratives to stakeholders, shifting the conversation from "what happened" to "what should Varo do next."
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Act as a strategic bridge between Product Owners, Operations, and Engineering to ensure data integrity and business alignment.
Banking Expertise: 3+ years of experience in analytics within the banking industry (required), with a preference for Neo-bank or high-growth fintech environments.
Technical Mastery: Prototyping-level proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience in the AWS stack (Athena, Glue, Quick) and Tableau.
Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to operate independently in a "high-speed, reactive" environment, managing multiple priorities without losing sight of business value.
Communication Excellence: A track record of distilling complex technical work into brief, actionable insights for executive leadership.
Modeling & AI Foundational Skills: Strong understanding of data modeling, the Agile development life cycle, the application of LLMs to solve business problems and experience using various coding assistants to accelerate productivity (Kiro, ClaudeCode, CoPilot, Tableau Agents).
