About the Role:

As the Director of Data Science, you will lead and grow our data science function, serving as the competence lead for all data scientists across the organization. You will champion the role of data science in driving business value, ensuring high standards of practice, career development, and impact for embedded data scientists working within product domains. In addition, you will own and drive our company-wide AI strategy and execution, identifying opportunities to leverage advanced machine learning and AI to create competitive advantage. You will also establish data science as the trusted source of truth, delivering insights and objectivity that inform critical business decisions. Your ability to lead through influence, develop talent, and evangelize the impact of data science across the organization will be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to data scientists embedded in product and domain teams.

• Establish and maintain high standards for data science excellence, methodologies, and best practices.

• Own and lead the AI problem space, shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of AI initiatives across the company.

• Drive personalization and online offer optimization initiatives, ensuring customers receive the right product, at the right time, at the right price.

• Partner with product, engineering, design, and business leaders to identify opportunities where data science and AI can unlock significant business value.

• Serve as the organization’s source of truth for insights, ensuring consistency, clarity, and objectivity in business decision-making.

• Ensure embedded data scientists are aligned with company and product goals while maintaining a strong sense of community and shared practice across the discipline.

• Advocate for data science within the organization, building awareness and excitement about its impact.

• Drive applied research and experimentation, ensuring rapid learning cycles and translation of research into production solutions.

• Define, track, and communicate key data science impact metrics to measure value delivered and identify areas of improvement.

• Stay ahead of industry trends in data science and AI, ensuring our approaches remain innovative and competitive.

What you will bring:

• 8–10+ years of experience in data science, with at least 3–5 years in leadership roles managing data science teams.

• Proven track record of embedding data science into product development and driving measurable business impact.

• Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and applied AI, with hands-on experience building and scaling solutions.

• Experience defining and leading AI strategies at a company or business unit level.

• Strong communication and storytelling skills to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and to drive objectivity in decision-making.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor, grow, and retain top data science talent.

• Experience in high-growth SaaS, B2B tech, or other complex product environments.

• Masters degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related); PhD degree preferred.

*The base salary range for this role is $225,000 - $285,000.
