Digantara is seeking a proficient Senior Satellite Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team who is passionate about how an assembled structure outperforms expectations while comprising different materials and structural members that are shaped and machined in various ways. In this role, the candidate leverages the expertise to design, develop, and realize cubesat/microsat structures and ground support structures.

Ideal Candidate

  • Someone with strong experience leading design, analysis and realization of structures for cubesat/microsatellites in low earth orbit.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out design trade-offs and generate hardware configuration based on satellite bus, payload requirements.

  • Lead structural design engineers, create CAD models and carry out analytical calculations, simulations and finite element analysis to ensure the hardware design meets all system requirements.

  • Assess the impact of change in hardware design on system level thermal, environmental and load characteristics.

  • Convert finalised CAD models into documentation for hardware realization(Eg. Fabrication drawings, assembly procedure documents, integration requirements, etc.)

  • Ensure DFM and AIT readiness of the cubesat/microsat structure.

  • Design and realise tools, fixtures and jigs required to assemble and test the hardware.

  • Create detailed test plans, execute structural hardware testing for qualification and acceptance.

Required Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E, M.Tech/M.E or PhD in Aerospace /Mechanical/ Structural Engineering.

  • 6 to 10 years of professional experience in design and realization of cubesat/microsat structures & related mechanical ground support equipment.

  • Proven expertise with aerospace hardware development projects, from conceptualisation to hardware realisation, testing and delivery.

  • Strong proficiency in working on CAD and FEA softwares like SolidWorks, NX, Ansys, NASTRAN or any equivalent.

  • Experience with material selection, qualification and vibration testing.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong first principles thinking with a deep understanding of structural design, analysis, and test.

  • Experience in assembly, fabrication, and machining of structural components.

  • Prior experience in leading team for design and developmental activities.

  • Understanding of satellite subsystems and systems-first development approach.

  • Being a part of complex projects while playing a key role in the overall project management process.
