Lead Satellite Electrical Power System (EPS) Engineer

Digantara is seeking a Lead Satellite Electrical Power System (EPS) engineer to conceptualize and architect the CubeSat/microsat power system. You will leverage your experience leading a team of multidisciplinary engineers to design, develop, and realize EPS for CubeSat/microsat in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO).

Ideal Candidate

  • Someone with experience leading the design and development of CubeSat/MicroSat electrical power systems, with a strong focus on miniaturization and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the CubeSat/MicroSat EPS and optimize the configuration to meet the electrical requirements.

  • Carry out EPS subsystem-level trade-off studies in collaboration with other subsystems, system engineers, and select power system components.

  • Lead the solar panel, battery, and power electronics engineers team towards the successful realization of EPS.

  • Analyse the power budget under various mission scenarios, study the energy balance for LEO satellites, and maintain specifications and interface control documents.

  • Lead the engineers in designing power conditioning, power control, and battery management circuits, and analysing simulation and test results.

  • Develop comprehensive test procedures for EPS at the subsystem and satellite levels and resolve the observations during the subsystem/satellite integration and test phases.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or M.Tech/M.E or PhD degree in Electrical/Electronics/Power Electronics.

  • 6 to 10 years of demonstrated experience in design, development of EPS for LEO satellites.

  • Strong expertise in power bus architecture, power conditioning, power control & distribution, and battery management circuit design.

  • Knowledge of CubeSat/MicroSat solar panels and battery characterization, with a good understanding of interactions between power sources and energy storage.

  • Proficiency in PCB schematic design (OrCAD/Altium) and simulation tools, PSPICE/LTspice.

  • Experience in the implementation of EMI control at the power source level.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for CubeSat/MicroSat EPS hardware development.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with EPS modelling & simulation in MATLAB/Simulink or Python.

  • Prior experience in successfully leading a multi-disciplinary team for design and development activities.

  • Familiarity with solar panel/battery fabrication and assembly procedures.

  • Good understanding of satellite subsystems and systems-first development approach.

  • Familiarity with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) to test satellite EPS.

  • Knowledge of the latest advancements in the miniaturization of EPS for small satellites.
