The Legal Supervisor - Operations & Compliance is responsible for ensuring that all business operations, particularly within the logistics and transportation sectors, are conducted in full compliance with Indonesian laws and regulations. This role is crucial for proactively mitigating legal risks, maintaining operational integrity, and providing strategic legal counsel to key business units. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and a commitment to upholding the company's legal and ethical standards.
Operational Legal Support & Advisory
Serve as the legal advisor for operational, commercial and business teams, providing timely and practical legal counsel on day-to-day business activities.
Conduct legal analysis and risk assessments on new business initiatives, product launches, and operational changes to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Advise on legal matters related to logistics operations, including courier partnerships, cargo handling, claims, service level agreements, and consumer protection.
Compliance & Regulatory Management
Develop, implement, and monitor internal compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, including but not limited to logistics, transportation, customs, and data privacy regulations.
Manage regulatory filings, permits, and licenses required for business operations, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with all reporting obligations.
Act as the key point of contact for government institutions and regulatory bodies (e.g., BKPM, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs, customs, and local authorities), handling inquiries and ensuring a collaborative relationship.
Conduct internal compliance audits and training sessions for employees to foster a culture of legal awareness and integrity.
Contractual & Documentation Management
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of operational and commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, partnership contracts, and service agreements.
Maintain a robust system for legal documentation and record-keeping to ensure all operational contracts and permits are up-to-date and easily accessible.
Team & Stakeholder Management
Supervise and mentor the legal team members focused on compliance and operational matters.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments (among others, Operations Strategy, BD & Expansion, Enterprise, Product Management and CFAT & Procurement) to ensure business objectives are met within a sound legal framework.
Prepare and present reports to the VP of Legal & Compliance regarding compliance status, regulatory updates, and potential legal risks.
Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a reputable university; a Master’s Degree and PERADI license are preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in corporate legal practice or an in-house legal role, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory position.
Prior experience and proven expertise in the logistics, transportation, e-commerce, or forwarding industry is highly desirable.
Strong legal analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of civil code, consumer protection, labor, data privacy and logistics laws and regulations.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (oral and written).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously with clear prioritization and result orientation in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to coordinate across departments and lead a team effectively.
High integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism under pressure.
