Sr. Field Quality Engineer

Location: Fremont, CA 

Reports to: Manager Quality Engineering

Summary

Pebble is seeking a Sr. Field Quality Engineer to take ownership of product performance once vehicles are in the field. This role bridges the gap between Service, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure that field issues are captured, analyzed, and translated into lasting improvements. You’ll lead root cause investigations, track reliability KPIs, and close the feedback loop between our customers, service, and production teams.

Your work will directly influence product durability, customer satisfaction, and the continuous improvement of Pebble’s products.

 

Responsibilities

 Act as the primary quality liaison between Service Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing.

  • Collect, document, and analyze field issues, defect trends, and customer complaints.

  • Ensure effective communication of findings to drive systemic improvements.

Lead field defect documentation with clear root cause, severity, and impact assessment.

  • Coordinate return part analysis and communicate results to Engineering and Manufacturing.

  • Ensure field learnings feed back into DFx, PFMEA, and Lessons Learned databases.

Drive cross-functional RCAs with Service, Engineering, and Quality to identify true root causes.

  • Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) implemented in the field.

  • Ensure timely closure of all field issues within the defect management system.

Track warranty trends and reliability KPIs

  • Perform data analysis to identify emerging quality risks and systemic weaknesses.

  • Provide structured field quality reports to leadership and design teams.

Develop and improve diagnostic and inspection standards for field troubleshooting.

  • Partner with Service Operations to create troubleshooting guides and validate repairs.

  • Ensure service feedback is translated into measurable product and process improvements.

Identify design and process weaknesses based on field data.

  • Recommend design improvements or supplier actions for recurring failures.

  • Contribute to Quality Management System (QMS) enhancements and audit readiness.

Experience 

  • Engineering or STEM Bachelors Degree or higher

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in high voltage and low voltage components 

  • Outstanding technical problem-solving abilities, grounded in a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals

  • Hands-on mentality

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proactive mindset and strong work ethic

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Systems approach to engineering product development, with demonstrated ability to bring together teams from different engineering disciplines

  • Demonstrated experience in engineering problem-solving

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to drive decisions using data and metrics

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Goal-oriented self-starter and motivator

  • Field quality experience
