About the Role

As Engineering Director, you will partner closely with Engineering Leadership to shape technical strategy, grow future leaders, and deliver high-impact product innovation.

You will lead and scale our Core and SRE teams ensuring our platform is reliable, scalable, secure, and developer-first. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Product, Design, and Leadership to translate company goals into world-class engineering execution — balancing quality, reliability, and cost discipline.

This role sits at the intersection of technical vision, people leadership, and execution excellence, and is critical to scaling Tenderly’s platform, teams, and impact.

What You’ll Do

• Technical Strategy, Architecture & Innovation

  • Partner in defining Tenderly’s long-term technical strategy and lead cross-team architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and platform excellence.

  • Drive purposeful innovation that delivers measurable customer and business impact.

  Engineering Team Leadership & Growth

  • Lead, coach, and scale high-performing engineering teams.

  • Develop future technical leaders and shape org design, hiring, and growth paths in partnership with People & Leadership.

  Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a strategic partner to Product, Design, GTM, and Leadership to translate business goals into technical priorities.

  • Drive shared accountability across teams for outcomes, not just output.

  Delivery & Execution Excellence

  • Drive cross-team execution, ensuring predictable delivery, clear ownership, and strong planning.

  • Build scalable delivery systems that balance speed, quality, and long-term platform health.

  Quality, Efficiency & Cost Discipline

  • Set and uphold a high bar for engineering quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

  • Drive efficiency and cost discipline through thoughtful technical and resourcing decisions.

About You

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including leading multi-team organizations in high-growth product environments.

• Proven track record building, coaching, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.

• Experience in modern backend and cloud architectures, distributed systems, and platform engineering.

• Experience defining long-term technical strategy and evolving systems at scale while balancing speed, quality, reliability, and cost.

• High ownership, high standards, and a strong bias toward action.

• Clear, direct communicator who thrives in highly collaborative, fast-moving environments.

• Web3 experience highly preferred.
