Job Summary

The Dispatch Lead plays a key leadership role at French Florist, overseeing all aspects of dispatch and delivery across our three corporate locations. This includes both in-house drivers and outsourced delivery partners (via Burq). The Dispatch Lead ensures seamless, efficient, and high-quality deliveries by managing drivers, optimizing routes, coordinating outsourced orders, and resolving delivery issues. They are responsible for owning the Burq relationship, balancing orders between in-house and outsourced channels, managing claims and refunds, and continuously working to improve the client delivery experience. This is a hands-on leadership role with accountability for the overall success of the delivery function at French Florist.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management

  • Partner with other French Florist department leads to ensure smooth operations across design, dispatch, and client-facing teams.

  • Manage dispatchers and drivers including delegating tasks, scheduling, maintaining overtime, and managing meal penalties.

  • Lead by example with a hands-on approach, supporting the team during high-volume periods and modeling best practices.

  • Conduct performance conversations and hold team members accountable in alignment with company policies and core values.

  • Track and manage productivity and efficiency metrics for the dispatch and delivery team.

  • Perform quarterly performance conversations with all direct reports.

  • Participate in required corporate meetings and trainings.

Staffing & Training

  • Interview, onboard, and train new dispatchers and drivers.

  • Proactively assess staffing needs and recommend adjustments.

  • Educate dispatchers and drivers on new French Florist policies, systems, and procedures.

Dispatch & Delivery Operations

  • Oversee both in-house and outsourced deliveries, ensuring client experience is consistently excellent.

  • Create and manage efficient delivery routes with less than a 2% fail rate.

  • Evaluate orders and determine when to assign to in-house drivers vs. outsourced via Burq; adjust orders as needed to meet demand and client expectations.

  • Own and manage the Burq relationship, including vendor communication, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement of the outsourced delivery process.

  • File and manage claims, refunds, and replacements with Burq and ensure timely resolution.

  • Handle client refunds/replacements related to delivery issues, identify recurring problems, and implement solutions.

  • Monitor and report on delivery accuracy, timeliness, and client satisfaction.

Weekly Performance Metrics

  • Delivery accuracy (in-house + outsourced): Less than 2% fail rate.

  • Overtime (dispatch + drivers): Measured weekly by payroll reports.

  • Meal penalties (dispatch + drivers): Measured weekly by payroll reports.

  • Project initiative completion: Based on milestones and parameters agreed upon.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, physically active environment.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Friendly and professional demeanor.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in dispatch, logistics, or delivery management.

  • Experience managing outsourced delivery vendors or third-party logistics platforms (Burq, Onfleet, or similar).

  • Interest in the floral or retail delivery industry.

Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts

  • Monday to Friday

  • Weekends and holidays as needed

Rate: $28-$30/hr
